Did ?go Tournament on Saturday (last week) and it peaked at 85 players. I should have done it as two rounds.

32 teams rather than 16 teams. Have 16 teams fight first, then then the other 16 teams. then continue with regular 2 vs 2 wb tourny.

how do you mean properly? the complex bot way with both elim and belim running side by side? or the clean one that really shows people that can play both ships?

anyways, you could almost make 3 different rankings for a combined elim as well. the combined rankings, and wb only and jav only. that way people who are still terrible at jav yet good at wb will rank on the wb list without having to sit out every jav match.

the streak limiting thing is still an alright idea i think. not overly necessary as i see streaks as usually pointless. in general after someone gets 3 or 4 in a row whoever is the streakee just starts running like a retarded clown and tries to win that way.

the ratings and everything were combined, which was why separating the 2 was the best thing to happen to elim. it got to a point where javs were being played way more often than wbs. used to have to wait hours to play a game of wb. don't combine the elims unless you can have jav and wb playing simultaneously. people want to logon and be able to play a game of elim, not wait for faggot javs to hog the arena

the biggest problem with the new elim is the ability to !scorereset. sarrow and riverside do it after pretty much every game they play. i've seen tohn and poseidon do it like 800 times when trying to rank. back when elim was actually a competitive arena, everyone tried because ranks and ratings actually meant something. your stats stuck with your name for 3-6 months until robo ref would reset it. you only had as many chances to rank as you had aliases with over 36 hours usage. nowadays you have infinite chances to get a good rating.

why was the minimum usage requirement removed anyway? in my opinion it was there to stop people from creating random names and trying to rank as opposed to keeping the newbies out. now people can go on any random name and try to rank or hunt someone when they're trying to streak, it's annoying.

take away the ability to !scorereset, bring back the usage requirement and it will make people actually care about how they do and start to try in elim. you used to be able to make a name for yourself in elim by having a good rating, now nobody really gives a damn because there's not as much value to it. i remember being excited every time robo ref reset ranks, cause the great elim players would always try to get #1. i can't even remember the last time i tried to !rank someone

This is indeed the biggest two issues with elim being unrealistic these days - lack of 36 hour minimum usage , and the ability to scorereset at will. Luckily people are still too terrible to actually secure a good rating even after 100 resets, but it does heavily take away from what it takes to clutch a high rating off the bat and whittle down all the other competition with the presence of pressure.

Also, why is someone all of a sudden 'remaking' elim? Milosh did this 2 years ago, me & Foreign gave him the exact formula Robo Ref used, the formula was then patched because of some bugs it had at first, I made a bunch of streak/streakbreaker/balancer suggestions that were implemented, and hence we have our new elim. Whats the point of 'redoing' it all; just take away the !scorereset, make a 36 minimum hour usage again, remove the 15 minute cooldown on winner announcements since people don't know when elim is starting when elims take less than 15 min to finish and there's too little people in there as it is, and the elim should be good to go.

Some new suggestions can be added sure; like I think on top of the multikill feature, a 'Name - 2fer! (with perhaps inconcievable sound effect)' announcement should be implemented where the 2nd kill is within 1.5 seconds worth of time from the first one, far quicker than possible from a second shot.

Also, as far as hosted events...get rid of the tourny nonsense, start hosting actual tournaments in ?go tournament again, possibly bring back a 3rd Annual Wb Tournament, with a 4th next year, and maybe make 2 v 2 wb/jav tourny leagues for pre-chosen partners.

Edit - Another thing I forgot, the different current stats it keeps, like best kill streak, best win streak etc are all pretty nice, but there should be a stat that keeps track of the highest multikill you got as well (double kill triple kill etc); and also a way to search the bot for a top 5 list based on a particular stat, such as !top bws would bring up a list of the top 5 people with highest win streaks, !top bks for kill streaks, or !top multikill would bring up the highest 5 multikill players and their respective stats for the chosen parameter. For instance, I only know of myself and Pascone who have gotten quintuple kills, and it would be nice for that to be a recorded stat, and search-able to see who may have gotten higher, etc.

Its easier for things to feel more competitive when all the different types of recorded stats are easier searched for what the best is , in order to try and beat it, other than rating.

Merging the two elims is one thing and is actually fine but running them both at the same time is just ridiculous. I just don't think you can have the best of both worlds here. Imagine trying to watch for your jav match and tracking down how many players are left in the jav game. It'll just be way too confusing... and sure you can just implement another !command but now we're just being hypocrites with the "reduce bot automation" deal while we're over here plotting a monster bot that does 2 things at once spamming the shit out of one single arena. I just figured that the more you want to implement, the more coding that is necessary which makes things much more complicated and in turn much less enjoyable. KEEP IT SIMPLE.... although adding TEAM ELIMINATION MATCHES would be sweet.

yeah working on it atm, just got the formulas to get a good rating. It'll work more like this: more top you're in rank/rating, harder will be to get more rating. so if you're #1, each win you get, less and less points you'll be earning. More news i'll be posting here soon, keep up the ideas too!
