i imagine "security reasons" refers to someone who might be flagged for past transgressions, and because of past behavior, there's a risk they might go apeshit and fuck up the forum database. i.e. - deleting a whole sub-forum or wiping out half of the registered accounts. things like that.

first we need a list of everyone who is likely to have applied

1. Ilyaz (most likely cleared due to HMS saying "Ilya, I have already thought of you!", would be pretty cold-hearted to say that then immediately scratch him off the list as a possible security breach)

2. Zeebu (doubtful, this guy seems nice, must be non-american)

3. money (guilty of lots of things this may be one of them)

4. gran guerrero (hope its not him cuz that would cause a huge free gran riot shutting down forums and giving ara lots of meaningful work)

5. adman (highly doubtful, an old vet who hasn't caused too much trouble that I can remember, may have lost a bd for me with sloppy terring tho so suspect)

6. pressure drop (this guys a dioscontent and says what he thinks, highly suspect of not being uber liked by staff)

7. jason (wild card, who knows what this guy does on his time off probably ends forums after taking 10 years to become a moderator)

8. edify (guilty)

9. squeezer (his platform is "I'll do it. And stops posting racism and fuckwords so much." turns out more censorship is not exactly the reason for this adventure)

10. weak (has 247 posts, think that beats ara)

So there we have it, 10 people applied in the thread at least, and one of them is our guy, let the games begin!

HMS at least talks to us, isn't so full of himself or staff that he feels the need to close a trash thread about him, so not a bad guy

if you didn't ever post here, and all you did was come in and delete and close threads cuz you personally find them distasteful then you aren't considering the forum community that starts and adds to these threads when you make your executive decisions. and as we all know, executive decision started to suck the second steven segal died.

well actually HMS asked me what I would like to see if I was to become a mod for these fourmz. I responded with just that vati.

I feel that less moderation is the best policy right now that TW Forums need. I am not a staff member in game and never was, I have been banned on several occasions (all in good fun) but I highly doubt it has to do with any "security" reasons. I'm willing to listen to the general consensus of what the people wants. If I see idiotic posts from the retards that we all know about then I will the deliver the gavel of justice and smash them down to their fucking places. I will however not show any sympathy to blatant habitual rule breakers. I will however not punish people for stupid shit that the current regime is implying on us for stupid shit like questioning TW policy, posting a picture of nudes in a private section of the forums, or anything else that we know we can handle with common sense. I also understand that some players don't like the idea of having a youtube video in their signature. If you feel that I'm not worthy of being the forum mod because of that reason alone then as you have noticed I already removed it. If you also pay attention, I change my forum theme constantly, so I don't necessarily keep things that people don't like. I'm not against having an image in signatures, as long as it fits certain parameters and doesn't break any blatant rules.

Look I don't want to become forum moderator to moderate you fucks. I want to become forum moderator so we can have what everyone wanted in the first place. Someone who doesn't abuse his power and goes on a ego trip because you disagree with me. I check forums quite often and post frequently. If you want to vote someone else because they are funny or popular to you then fine. I don't care. If you want to vote for someone that wants to restrict your freedoms, then fine. I don't care.

All I want you to know is that I am everything that you want in a forum moderator, I'm offering this once and lifetime chance to finally have someone in charge not be a douchefuck and not listen to our problems. I don't want to add to the problem, I want to clean away the garbage that has infiltrated our game.

i totally agree with the "less is more" approach to moderation. and i don't think the hiring of new moderators is meant to account for some kind of lack of discipline around here. we're fine in that regard.

if i come on board with forum staff, i want to work from a more, uhh shall i say, innovative, angle. and by that i mean, let's run with the notion that we're all big kids and can handle ourselves, and then we can open up the the floor to new ideas that will *gasp* actually get implemented.

just very quick spitballing:

we can try to make mafia more common and accessible to more players.
we can find other forum games to play.
we can start goofy threads without any purpose whatsoever and just let 'em run because it's fun.
we can hold some forum based contests.
we can add new sub-forums with some flavor and variety of content.

so on and so forth.
