You raise a good point here. Perhaps the win streaks for jav and wb can be kept separate so that way a streak can't be affected by a different ship being played.



However, I do agree that keeping the win streak ship-blind might actually raise the skill level required to get recognized in a zoner.

If you do end up keeping elims combined, then seperating the win streaks into two types, and maybe even creating a hybridized overall win steak for both on top of that could be a good alternative indeed.

Other than that, aside from all the personal rage and preferences people are flaring in the thread, I think the bottom line comes to the fact that it's about what ship a person wants to, or doesn't want to play. When there isn't a choice to pursue only ship 1 or only ship 2, and your personal efforts whether they excel at jav, wb, or both are not given the option to be either exercised because you are still waiting for a non-baseelim to begin or vice versa, or aren't given the opportunity to build up streaks or competition on one side of the playing field (wb/jav), then it's simply a biased environment that will alienate a certain amount of people.

Suppose there are 10 wbs in the arena, and 7 javs, and the wbs vote out the javs for the next game, why should the javs have to wait to play when they could just be playing simultaneously in a belim arena? Do we combine TWDD and TWJD into one arena so that people can fight over which majority will overrule which side of the fence of players? No, because it's simply a matter of preference and giving people the option to play either at all times. It's not about which ship takes skill, or doesn't take skill, its not about whether you are limited playing one ship or playing 6 ships, its not about the players in this thread who enjoy both and therefore want to dominate a field where single ship players don't stand a chance, its just about having people have a choice to play a game of elim without it being a fight for majority rules.

If your point throughout all that text was to say that you want the choice of just playing one ship all the time, then go to pub and play that ship all the time. And if you get at least 5 more people to tag along, you can get a 3v3 going in one of the duel arenas. Your comparison to the leagues is apples and oranges in many different ways- it's stupid. Now it's time for you to understand the point of the combination: The lack of players. B/Elim has become so inactive that even since they've been combined they have still been reduced to 1v1s to 10. You're concerned about being outnumbered in a vote to play a ship while everyone else is worried about even getting people to play! Why don't you find a real crisis to bitch about. In the meantime, show some appreciation that you even have an elim to play in.

You guys have not posted ONE point on how this is supposed to increase activity. All you've all posted is a bunch of fallacies about how you suck at this game if you dont play multiple ships, or you should play in pub or javduel because you want to play belim...

It is completely nonsensical.

You don't try to force people into doing something they don't like, especially by taking away functionality of what they do like. ESPECIALLY when you had other options.

Let them both be in same arena, and running at same time.
Add pub bucks.
Give away 10 bucks a month to whoever has highest rating.

What you've guys have done is rude as hell, not just because you're taking away what people like, but because you took away what they liked, then insulted them on the forum for only liking what they liked.

I will never go in this arena on the principal I will not support anyone who thinks its a good idea to try to force people into doing things, instead of doing things right and trying to find NEW ideas about getting NEW people to come play, not taking things away from people and insulting them at the same time.

unless you played back then and really hated the way it was, at least give it a chance before shooting it down.

besides, like you said riske, the active elim right now is belim. we havent suddenly sprouted a ton more wbs. unless someone starts showing more intrest in wb elims again, javs will soon dominate the arena and nothing will have changed.

Never said that. But again, there is nothing to like, you cant do anything now that you couldn't do before, except before you could do it more often.

This isnt even about not wanting to play other ships, or trying new things, etc, its about not letting people think its a good idea to try to force people into doing things they obviously didnt want to do. The correct strategy is give them a reason to want to do the things they didnt want to do. Not force them by taking away things they do like. Thats just dumb strategy.

This would give people easy access to doing something they might not have liked before, AND do it without taking anything away from anybody.

There were MANY options that could have been tried before using a negative strategy.

it offers a little more than that. not everyone will completely refuse to try a new ship.

if you are stubborn enough to say 'screw anyone who likes to play both ships and want an active arena to do this in' then maybe youre right, it doesnt offer much.

but, some people who only wb will play some javs. vise versa for javs playing wbs. the arena itself will show a larger population, or should. the bigger the arena the more people go to it. the current jav playing population will increase some. the current wb playing population will increase some.

we are talking about mainly opinions here. i enjoy playing both ships. so there, i guess i have an agenda here too.

i would say getting more people in an arena doing the same thing at the same time is better than having fewer poeple in different arenas.

i guess you could ask them to put the belim arena back up again after the bugs are worked out of this bot. then you can organize the javs to go play in that arena and ignore this one.

nicely put zeebu. AT times I would hang out in Baseelim wondering where all the players are... then I'd randomly type ?go elim and there they all were. I would've otherwise logged off if I hadn't type ?go elim first. Now it's all in one arena, there's a better chance that a larger group would accumulate in one arena and therefor attracting a larger crowd if possible to it. I know people have probably looked at arena list and see only 10 in ?go baseelim and not even bother going and in reality, there's a fun 7 player elim game going on that could use a few more.

More so, for some reason, I had Bill Cosby voicing over in my mind while reading Riske's post.
