true but theres not many casual MMO games out there that dont require a computer with tons of specs to avoid lag/low FPS, which is also free and super easy to chat/hang out in. TW has its negatives and positives.

Assuming we got on Steam, is anything being done to capture the new audience that would come?

You have something like 5 minutes to impress a new player before they decide to keep playing or uninstall... let's say they aren't scared by the intro screen and creating a profile and getting into Trench Wars, let's say.

So you're thrown into Pub with no structure, no idea what to do, in what might be one of the less interesting things to do -- especially since new players tend to fly around the spawn area, having no idea there's a flag inside the base that people probably aren't even fighting over, because it's pub.

The absolute best thing you could do to hook/ease someone in is throw them into an 8v8 basing game in spider, where there is a confined area and tons of bullets to shoot since your control of the ship is going to be awful, and shooting people in open space in a warbird when you've never played is incredibly difficult -- spraying randomly at someone an inch away in spider is significantly easier, especially since sharks are asking you to kill them.

Also, the ATTACH button... why is it still F7? It's arguably one of the most important things in the game and it's insanely unobvious. The new player should have 3 things to worry about it: 1) shooting with control 2) flying with arrow keys 3) an easy attach button to get into the action.

Why isn't there a bot auto assigning new players to Training Squad 1 and Training Squad 2 and auto-arranging basing matches or w/e for new players?

If there's nothing but a huge influx of people getting thrown into pub with Tower spamming wikipedia entries and dying to 12-year vets in wb in spawn, unaware and unable to attach or take part in the best aspects of Trench Wars (basing, javing, hosted events, 1v1 dueling, elim, etc.) why would they stay?

The learning curve on this game is insane, and basically you're just praying/hoping someone has the patience and tenacity of a jedi master and sticks around to get to the good stuff.

zone wont go on steam. just close this thread. it's probably an attemp to make you guys back in game. As shaddow said priitik is too busy spending his skype money living his pretty life and will never allow continuum to go on steam because its source encryption code was the base of skype.

I am no longer up to date on what's going on in the steam project since I left staff on Sunday due to....well...they sure like their inactive and useless people and don't like those that work hard. However from my perspective when I left, this was on the list of things to be addressed and I believe that someone was in fact working on establishing a tutorial bot and section of a pub arena. However it was in its infancy stages, and thus I doubt it will be completed any time soon. Although I doubt that it will be much of an issue compared to the more difficult issue: actually getting on steam. While the campaign is progressing well and we actually had gotten some decent image and video work done as well as established a placeholder site to host it all. The 2 largest problems still remain that there are a bunch of legal issues surrounding rights and some other things; to which we have no real answer, and that (related and unrelated to the first) there is a lack of or unwillingness to invest money into this because quite frankly those that handle the money want to invest it in sure things and this is not for sure. Beyond that, the number of people actually working hard on this took a hard hit recently when myself and a couple other people either left staff and/or stopped working hard. Although I was nowhere near as important as other people (like dezmond) on the project, there is a severe lack of motivated and competent bodies constantly working it; which will slow things down substantially.

All that said, even if everything is ready to go. Until those legal issues surrounding rights as well as a couple other legal issues get sorted out (something which you might wanna hire someone for), I find it unlikely that this will have strong enough legs to get any distance. Just an honest opinion from someone who was recently working on this.

Has staff considered adding WBDUEL, JAVDUEL, and BASE maps to pub, instead of having them in separate arenas? Wouldn't this expose every single person that entered the arena to every facet of competitive TW? This would make these games more prestigious as well, as 50+ people could be watching a game at once.

Sorry ," I was nowhere near as important as other people (like dezmond)" Are you srs?. Dezmond almost killed this game. What he did to this game? He didn't create nothing , no arenas , no maps , no system, just trying to fix bots. We don't neeed kids working to subspace. He is 14. Rude with all ppl unless high staffs. Well I'm sorry but I don't like Dezmond and I know what shits he did to this game and he don't have skills to work in devteam. Need to get old and have experience in real life.

Dez has actually matured greatly, and is one of the only people active in TW dev anymore. He made mkstakes in the past, but he is making up for them with his contributions now. We actually have a few "reformed" players on staff who have decided to help instead of troll and cause problems.

Big shits btw. Well , let's see. He isnt the one active now. We got Dexter again. This guy did alot of things to subspace, teached Dezmond how to dev. If Dezmond "is a developer" now , he would say thank you to dexter but i'm sure he wont do that , cuz the only thing that he knows it's be rude with ppl.

Sorry Shad, but I Dislike you post.

That's fine, we are all entitled to our own individual opinions on everyone, but personally he's earned my respect as a dev member.

Well, yesterday I saw a nice attitude from you Dezmond. This means that u aren't the fk child that u were. This is the good point. The bad point is , I won't forget all the words and subjects that you said/gave to me when I was trying to do something in devteam. But I hope we work together again, cuz I want the best to this game.
