Howdy! I have some suggestions for some changes to the Weasel, the only ship I play. Make it small with cloak and energy draining stealth. Take away the lethal bullets and give it EMP and very slow rate Spider bullets. Make it a ship that can be very annoying but not so deadly on its own. Make X radar for all ships drain energy so that they cant keep it on all the time to hunt down the X easily, make it more of a game of cat and mouse.

I dunno bout this one Saul. I like to one-shot surprise people in mid-base too much for this....

Also, random EMP bombs through the little holes in base will make basing a pain in the ass.

I already said this in pub, but after the conversation I had today with fiS and LF about these changes I'm absolutely livid with them both, especially fiS. Their attitude toward the players (who keep this game alive by playing) is what's killing the damn game, not any changes to ship or zone settings. As such, I'm quitting and rescinding my greenlight vote on Steam. If things change for the better (not necessarily change back to the way it was before) AND they change their rotten attitude toward players both old AND new, I might consider coming back. If not, well then they can continue to kill TW and the game.

sc00p could you explain what was said to you or what I missed with the conversation? I think the changes stink and I don't agree that things are better this way but I never got the "rotten attitude" feeling from FiS you apparently did. LF and Taxi are entitled to their views even if they are wrong. So the only rotten attitude I noticed was when Wazzaaa.NL made comment about goodbye to those that don't like the new changes, but IMO he always has been a jerk and even if the settings went back he would stay to be the troll he is, so I let his comments roll off per usual. So while I agree with you in my dissatisfaction with the new settings I never got a "this is set in stone" or a "screw you" feeling from the conversation with FiS today. Did something more transpire after I left or in private?


Now more of my "this would be better than the current settings" ...
Put the weasel back little the way it was but maybe block the 2 side holes on small maze (not all six). As for lev, I don't like the changes but, compared to the complete change of function of the weasel, leave them a while; just put back buy anywhere like the rest of the ships. Please from now on make small changes to one ship at a time.

Who thought that the old weasel would be ok and why? As much as you guys are focused on basing, solo wbing has always been an important part of pub. It's impossible to do with these new settings because you can just get killed due to no fault of your own. I know some new 2 year player wants to make their impact on this game, but when DoCk> put the original weasel/lanc changes into effect it was for good reason. The weasel became a viable option for a basing team to attack from another side and the lanc became its own ship instead of another repackaged wb. If the weasel is now 'op' its because you guys fucked up the base to begin with..maybe you should look there first.

Also, fix the killothon so that people actually play it. I remember people would actually play it at one point. Letting people choose how they experience the game is important and some relatively new player(s) that happen to like basing over jav/wb shouldnt be having this much power to change that on a whim. In the year or so that I've been mostly gone I come back to a game that much more aggressively is pushing people into the base and a game with a much lower playerbase than I left it. The trend has generally been downward over the last several years, but these changes surely wont make it better.

That's funny, because she said exactly that - the changes we re done to bring in new players, and if we don't like it then we can get lost. Considering the fact that the goal of these changes is to revive the game by increasing the player base, trading old players for new ones is a TERRIBLE strategy.

I miss hunting LTs too...

there were 2 problems that needed fixing:
- small weasel didn't die when a terr he's attached to dies --> make weasel bigger
- lev couldn't kill you if you sat right infront of it --> upgrade lev bullets

everything else can go back to how it was

Any sysops or staffers that matter chime in on this thread? I'm too lazy to read the whole 5 pages. I just want to know why players with only a few years experience are able to make such changes with little to no evidence that their changes will prove effective. The whole philosophy of the changes are 'because I was new and wanted to play the game a certain way, everyone else thats new will want to.'

That's true, I was a fairly new player and I can honestly agree some of us weren't treated well either.

The things our junior staff member is attempting to fix was already part of an earlier fix to change the old overpowered spawn-feeding weasel into a viable basing option. The changes that dock made were major and almost universally accepted by a much larger playerbase at the time. Don't believe me?

I cannot find the weasel change thread, but the change was met with as much positive feedback as the lanc. Notice how the change was first tested in other arenas and THEN brought to the game's main arena for new players to test. Pub 0 is not a test bed. It's the arena in which new players first experience the game, and to have the chat filled with griping about dumb changes turns them off to it.

Look at dock's thread, then look at this one. Tell me who made the right change to the game.
