leadership has always been an issue in this game, and while the idea of a supreme commander does pique my curiosity it seems unlikely that we would see this happening anytime soon. it would require a lot of effort and time to actually get everyone to follow you and your ideals, and to work towards a common goal. unfortunately most people who would be qualified are either too busy managing their own companies, or simply lack the time for other various reasons. this zone reached a sad state over a decade ago, and it would require a small miracle to turn things around. i want to believe it will happen, but the history of this zone points to a different direction.

this zone should be ran like a company, and not managed like a hen house with a bunch of headless chickens minding their own business.

Put TW Staff aside for a moment and try and make another solution to this situation. Let them ramble around banning people and minding their own business and let people like turb and Eph take over the rest. See how angry that makes them bacause, frankly, they don't do shit in this zone. Nobody takes help calls anymore, nobody helps newer players, all they do is defend each other while sitting in spec and eating burgers while we, the normal players of TW, bust our asses to make a difference. I've said this before and I'm gonna continue saying it: TW Staff is corrupt and this will never change. So make some other decision for pub leadership/changes and make the players who wanna help participate. Else this game will consist of only TW Staffers next year (+ beam).

I look at EG and see there are 80 people online so I logon and there are only 30 people actually playing. Then I look at TW and see 160 online and I look in all the arenas and find that only 25 people are actually playing. Then I come on here and see some moron on forums talking about how TW is the only active zone left. Hilarious.

Again, there are like 10 retards who refuse to combine zones and are content to let the like 30 players they have left widdle away instead of having one final zone for this game with 400 players. There could be leagues year round with different styles of play from different zones, best of every world type of deal. I said it before and I will say it again. Get someone in Trenchwars to go STEAL all the other zones best arenas, settings, leagues and put them in TW, then advertise that you can do the same shit here but with 10x more people. They could summon TW Council to a hearing. At the hearing, they'll plead their case and TW Council will deliberate. After several hours, TW Council will reach their verdict. Guilty of zone theft auto. You'll be sentenced to hard time. The punishment will be you have to sit in a private arena with Tower and you can't ignore him.

I think there's some zone settings and stuff that don't align between zones. I am not 100% sure about it, as I never did anything that deep in regards to settings while on staff or on my own. So that is 1 potential impediment. But I mean, you gotta give something to get something? I am certain most of those "Zone settings" can be recreated in "Arena Settings". Outside of that my guess is that the rest is centered around ego, pride, and no clear plan.

I mean let's just look at it from a purely fiscal perspective: you have multiple small servers running, costing you x money; wouldn't consolidation onto 1 medium size server alleviate some of the cost? As well as consolidation of funds amongst zones? I don't know the figures, but I would think that it would cost less and the megazone would have more money at its disposal.

From a population and getting more clicks perspective: If there is more variety of things to do, more people are apt to try to do them. If all of HZ moves to TW and hockey is perpetually running, more people might be apt to try it out. Also if a zone has 130 population and you know half of it is bots, you're less likely to click on it and log in than if it has 400 people and 1/8th are bots. The downside being you're messing with people's entrenched way of playing and they may not follow over to the megaserver and may just quit cuz you changed their routine.

From a web/dev perspective: You're basically consolidating everyone so maybe there are more people and the workload lessens on some or we can just do more.

The big issue would come surround which zone becomes the megazone and the forming of an entirely new staff heirarchy. That is just a penis measuring contest waiting to happen and a lot of people would probably drag their feet in the dirt unless they got their way. Also ban lists might be an issue where some people are permabanned from x zone, but not y.

Without knowing the details hypothetical positives outweigh the negatives by a lot. Will it happen? Probably not. Status quo too ez to maintain bro.

i think that project of merging zones collapsed for a vast number of reasons, including things such as arguments about who would be acting as the leader of the new zone and which players would end up being the staff members; which public arena would be used and what settings would remain as the default ones, and the issue of having about 50 different websites and forums for one zone would seem rather silly as well. there was also the problem between subgame and asss compatibility which would mean that zones such as Hockey Zone could not be merged into ours.

nevertheless i think it the only reason this failed was because people love to have power, even if it is in a dead zone, and would rather sink with their sinking ship rather than ask for help.

Sounds about right. Trenchwars staff are no different. I wonder at what point people finally realize that the system that staff have in place to become staff has been wrong and continues to be wrong? I'm not saying anything will ever be done about it, since staff aren't about to axe themselves and find someone more qualified/active, but I wonder if deep down they ever feel shitty about it? I doubt it though, since when you have fucking players with their fucking signatures consisting of all the "staff positions" they hold and/or held, you clearly know that the wrong people are in place to make the wrong decisions. People are far too proud of it, and that pride attracts all the wrong kinds of people.
