if my memory is not failing me, that map was never finished by Wormhole Surfer and had mixed feelings and comments from our players, ranging from it "not staying true to what this zone stands for" to "a refreshing experience"; we could always explore the option to finish that map with the help of Wormhole Surfer and make another trial run of some sorts and gather feedback from the players, or even make it a special type of map that pops up every once in a while.

alas, moving onto other topics. one of the bigger issues that we have in staff is the rather low recruitment late which is because of the lack of applicants, and to be honest also the proactivity to recruit new staffers without the need of an application system. the amount of new staff members we have had the past month is rather alarming and i would like to think that several players would be willing to join staff if we scouted them to the team rather than waited for them to come to us.

Yeah that was wormhole surfers map and it would be very hard to convince staff to replace that map (for a bit anyway)... Although I'm very sure that map would be a lot more appealing to new players since it looks tons more modern. That map did have a few things wrong with it that a majority of old players didn't like but it could have been corrected but anyway i can't see it happening (I tried and failed).

I don't see it happening but I'll do it anyways right where everybody can see it. Gonna go ahead and informally apply for ZH/TWD/Training all at the same time. No idea who runs training these days, last I heard it was shaddow but all the website lists is "Staff Support", not sure if thats the same thing or not and the only person listed under it is whoever this 9th person is, which would explain a lot. Anyways I practically invented the staff training dept alongside and under magi koz circa 2010/2011 so I have experience there. I've also been a TWD Op so I know all of the commands already assuming not too much has changed though Ricko is a better choice here than me since he's been active and I haven't, but I'd be better than anyone else currently listed on website. I added ZH because i dont really care what I do. Like me or not those that matter know what Im capable of and that I'm very good at pretty much every aspect of staffing (aside from knowing when to shut up). I know my shit and can help steer the train in the right direction if the people in the front car cease to stop being so retarded. Up 2 u tho, I'll download if needed.

The issue has always been the fact that there is this rush to fill a vacant staff position, and rather than taking the time to evaluate all the potential candidates and picking the right one to open position we often times (due to it being the easier choice) decided to pick the one who seemed to be most active at that time, rather than qualified, and those people are usually only good at sweet talking as an attempt to get more power. Results matter more than empty words, and that is why I will keep closely monitoring the work of every staff department during my spare time.

Events department looks to be in a good shape and they are moving to the right direction, although there is always room for some improvement. This would include things such as better scheduling and planning of events, encouraging more variation and freedom when hosting events, and other things similar to those suggestions.

Training section of staff needs to be reevaluated. I feel that someone else needs to take over the head position of that department as the current head has close to no experience when it comes to hosting and in my opinion that is a quality that you need to have as a trainer, along with having a good attitude and plenty of patience.

We have a vacant head position in the TWD league department, and even general lack of competent and active staff in the same department, which is one of the areas that we need to cover in the near future.

TWEL and TWDT seem to be in a good condition as several staff members are stepping up their game. The estimated starting date of TWEL is January 23rd or 24th at least based on what I have heard from Mythril, and I will help with the project during my free time.

Development team is doing their own thing at a decent pace, no complaints from me. They seem to have a clear vision of what they want and need to do in order to help the zone. Their projects as of late have included things such as a new installer with nice features (which would likely be used during steam launch) such as pre-downloaded maps and banners, updated zone list(s), additional options, and several website and bot quality-of-life changes.

Marketing team is nonexistent and has not progressed much at all since in the recent months. Spawnisen is in charge of that department at the moment, but that may change as he has been very inactive lately and has not provided any results. On the bright side, Shadowmere and 9th have done a stellar job on our social media pages keeping them up-to-date with the latest news and events.

We recently got a new head of Public and he will closely work with a small team to make good quality changes, but I'm afraid that the levithan will not return back to its former self as the damage has already been dealt. We have had some good discussions about the future of our main arena and hopefully we can start rolling out some of the changes in the near future.

I will have to wait and see what the Deans of Staff are planning on doing, but so far I have heard good ideas and plans.

Uppy is a great candidate for dean, I'm glad to hear that. Much more fitting role for him than the head of TWD. You on the other hand I'm impartial about until I see what you can do. I don't like or dislike the move but then again my opinion on it doesnt really matter. Removing beasty from the role is another step in the right direction either way. You're one of the several staffers that have kept me in the loop over the past couple years while clueless people kept me blacklisted so I'm content with all of these changes taking place. I'm not sure if that demonic comment was a dig at me or not but she was never an issue with me. Useless in a power position yes, but I've always considered her a "friend". If there is anything I can do to help this transitional time go a little smoother and help secure the future of our game then feel free to let me know and I'll do what I can

Well this is a good step in the right direction. I like it. Hopefully you can fulfill your role without taking 2 steps in the wrong direction like every "leader" before you over the past 6-8 years or so. Some of these things you already touched on but I'd like to include a few suggestions on things that can be improved...

Dean of staff: If you must have 2, have at LEAST one from the majority of the playerbase (North American) For years and years and years now we've had 2 euros holding the position, and when 1 euro steps down he is replaced by another euro and thus has been unavailable to the staff and players during MOST peak times. There should almost always be a dean available to approach either by staff or the general public, and by that i mean one is LIKELY to be online within a couple of hours, not only from 4am-11am American/Canadian time where MOST of our players come from. Another thing could be to remove staff applications entirely. That's one thing I would have done when I was being considered for the position in 2012 or whenever it was. If you must have an application for people to show interest, have them emailed directly to the deans email instead of being put up for vote. Do you really want a dean of staff recruiting people that he doesnt even know and must rely on the opinions of everyone else to gauge what kind of person is applying? Or would you rather have a dean that actually knows who the players are? This should stop the popularity contests in staff voting (assuming you find a good dean) and at least slow down the recruitment of total newbies like Fozzcat, Zenabee and theblock. More on staff voting to strengthen my case using my own history as an example... Who the fuck even cares if somebody like "Random Newb <zh>" thinks that "Staffer from 10 years ago" doesn't have a place in current staff?

Department Heads: I know you kinda touched on this already but I am only emphasizing it. We have tons of the wrong people filling the wrong positions. Partly out of necessity and having total shit in staff to pick from, and partly because the dean(s) we have are entirely clueless and don't know anything about the players or the staff they have to manage. I dont know how accurate my thoughts are about the staff roster TODAY as I havent logged in more than twice for at least 6 months now, but for example..... Up In Ya is a great dude and a fantastic guy to have on staff in a smod position but why on earth is/was he running the TWD department? Mismatch from hell. Some staffers still confide in me and I hear horror stories about how Azov was chosen as the ASST bang op over people much more qualified and respected, which is totally believable because its happened to me when I was smod... "LF you get to pick an assistant for ECT but you don't actually get a say because we're picking turban for you" is essentially the same thing that happened with azov. Im hoping turban exercises more common sense when assigning people to these roles.

I really like the "be nice" rule, as gay of a name as that is for it. We might lose a few people that do nothing but log on to ruin the gaming of others (Primary, Tower, beam, manco, etc) but who cares. Losing them would be a BENEFIT to the zone. Its not hard to exercise discretion and get rid of the shitheads for the greater good. I hope you stick with it and implement this.

I have more suggestions and lots and lots of ideas (and money if needed) but I want to see how this changes things before I continue. If you do what you say you're going to do and make these changes and staff becomes less of a toxic environment I will download the game again and offer my assistance in any way needed. I'm far better equipped and more experienced than 95% of the staff you have now so even as a ZH would be a + for the zone. Good luck turpin and congrats on the promotion, I have faith you are the right guy for the job.

I was appointted Dean of staff 3 days ago a long side Up in Ya !!. This was a move that suprised me quite a bit as their last combo of upster and field looked like beasty not wanting to let go of the position and keep 2 people he can control. However with me here its kind of a game changer as I'm not a puppet on a string for Sysops. I will push the line to repair the damaged reputation that is currently staffs. Im already getting ready with upster to have the first general staff meeting in months towards the end of this month to put the word out. Staff will change. Abuse will not be tolerated neither will bullshit or ass-kissing. The problems have gone on long enough unaddressed give me time I will fix it. Also for all you "I wont be staff cause of demonic blah blah bullshit." Put your money where your mouth is shes gone talk to me ingame if you want to help the zone out for real. Dont waste my time with halfhearted "maybe this maybe that" either I wont listen to it.</zh>
