im not gonna let that go unnoticed. defintiely made me chuckle cause it is so true. i admit even i am guilty kind of cause when i play chaos i use the name Gopher so i can make myself look elite and fit in with the people there. lol.

First off I would limit of amount of use zh's have over robohelp. That way they might do some actually work and learn a bit about tw along the way so when given the ability to host matches they wont crash and burn. Secondly I would put a limit on what could be hosted. For example, it there has been 50 events since dm was last hosted I would implement a system so that dm had to be hosted. Thirdly I would hire more staff, that way there's more competition and always enough online. Lastly I would change the 'on it' system. In case you dont know what it is, mods and zh's get credit for every help and cheater call they take by typing on it in staff chat. However if two people want to take it both type on it, only the first guy does the work but the other guy still gets credit. However I haven't thought up an alternative system yet.

First of all, I don't want to look like a fool so... Before I get serious let me say that I do realize this thread is about as serious as the California recall election. I have been thinking of some things lately though, so let me put some 'real' ideas out there.

Some things that I believe should be done are...

1: RoboHelp must be shutdown. It was an amazing idea and whoever made it (Cpt.Guano?) did a great job. Unfortionately, as great of an idea as it is, it isn't good for TW. ZHs move on to ER, which is arguably the hardest staff position, so they really need to learn how to do an 'honest days work'. Typing ';!tell someguy: where to find banners' isn't going to get them ready to host and deal with people. We must also keep in mind that most people that use ?help need help with things. I have years of experiance as a ZH (literally) so I know from experiance sometimes people need things clarified. One sentance from a bot does not cut the mustard. The bot does say 'type !sumon' or something if a person needs help but the only people that use that are the vets that don't need help and just want someone to host deathmatch. The other people just don't understand. This has gotten so bad that we now have a '!tell no' so if someone asks 'do scores get reset tomorrow' they get a response like (RoboHelp)> No. That is absolutely terrible.

To effectively answer a ?help call a ZH must go to the arena where the person is and speak to them one on one and stay until the ZH knows the person understands. Sometimes it takes a while and requires going over things step by step. Nobody said that staff is simple all of the time. If someone can't handle that then they can't handle ER. ZHs: If you aren't doing it this way, you aren't doing it correctly. Saddly, most ER/mod/smod on staff don't advocate this and I believe that the quality of help from ZHs is much lower than it could be. Spider for head of the ministery of ZHing?

Trust me on this guys, RoboHelp isn't good for TW.

I've wrote pages on this subject to the mod yahoogroup in the past, but I suppose the smods either like RoboHelp, or don't want to turf something after so much work.

2: We need to take powers away from all non-staff that have powers in in TW, namely in base. I've heard some good arguments as to why they have powers, but I've heard too many rumors of abuse.. We have a hard enough time keeping the staffers that are 'in house' from abusing and respecting the job they have to do. How can we hold 'non-staffers' accountable? Would a police force contract duties off to the general public? No. Our job is to host things like base for the people of TW. If we can't do that then we need to get more hosts, train people more effectively, and make sure everyone understands they have a job to do. A few times a year we have mass-firings of people.. That doesn't inspire staff to work harder. We need to have a more consistant 'weeding out' of poor staffers to make sure everyone knows if you don't do your job you don't have a job with TW staff.

3: The most radical change I believe should take place would also be the most beneficial. We need to eliminate the ER position and make all ERs and mods equally resonsible for hosting and taking care of the pubs. We lose all our good hosts to the moderator position then we don't see them host even 10% of what they used to. I have it on good authority (DoCk) that hosting our special events is what makes this zone. Why then, do we remove our best hosts from their hosting position?

With the ZH position as a training position I'm sure we can teach any new recruits how to handle cheaters and host. Handling cheaters is much easier than hosting. We just need to teach everyone how to be accountable, and not to abuse their powers. The more experianced staffers must keep an eye on the new ones, and an atmosphere of accountability must exist.

Good staffing starts at the ZH position, we need ZHing to be changed in this zone. We also need moderators to be more than just 'models' for the ZH/ERs, we need mods to be active in the duties of the zone. I feel our best staffers are mods and its a shame that they don't do anything other than take maybe 60 cheaters a month. Thats a waste of all the amazing talent in our staff while most of the duties that the average player will notice (hosting and helping) are taken care of by the rookies. Moderating is seen almost as retirement and thats a shame, like I said, moderators are our best staffers.
