in regards to the closure of http://forums.trenchwars.org/showthr...&threadid=6799 and warning of magi koz:
i interpretted the context of the original message to be questioning why several common racist slurs are still "legal" while some aren't. that link was a quick and easy guide to which words should be added to tw's unwritten (but religiously enforced) list of bannable words. obviously, not all of the words on that site should be added, but there's a fair amount that should.
secondly, staff paranoia of racism is at dangerously high levels. yes, racism is bad and should be punished... but you can't go out of your way to find racism in things that aren't. the burden of proof should reflect an obvious racial intent as opposed to the mentality of "hey i've never heard that word before, IT MUST BE RACIST!" *WARN WARN BAN*. we need to understand that this is a game frequented by a multitude of different countries, and several types of vernacular in each country. some slang words are acceptable in some cultures, other slang are universally wrong. we all have a good idea of which are the wrong ones and which should be left alone.
thirdly, why warn the initial poster based on assumption, yet not warn any of the people that followed up that post by using their favorite words on the list? go after the obvious cases instead of trying to find hidden ones.
fourthly, why leave the link up if you feel it's so harmful?
