I've been wanting to do this for many months now. If I ever get the time, I'll make it a top priority.

Maybe, maybe not. With the change, it would make it so the multiple people with the answers memorized wouldn't have to compete with each other in a typing contest. Each and every one would get the answer right and get a point instead of just one of them getting a point.

If implemented, it will be a different option for the person who starts the game. Both game types would still be available.

I think trivia is fine the way it is. If you truly know the answer you will be able to recall it and type it within a reasonable amount of time. However I might like to try Tiger's idea. Thanks Sphonk.

I´ve been doing some manually hosted football (soccer) trivia and it has been pretty appreciated. Ill be doing music and movie trivia aswell in the future... At least there are no repeats heh

Ya, the soccer one was cool.. tho I found it kind of a minus point that there were no questions what so ever about anything dutch related...

I can see that any way trivia goes now, it's going to still be a typing race. Also, it could just go for...say 30 questions and only get one chance to answer, after that you're screwed if you typo. and the twbot could answer the scores at the end of the 30 questions, kinda like how pts are reported at the end of acromania.

I need to have my say in this -.-

                          1) ASLDIJSDAFLIS NOT ANOTHER TRIVIA SIG

                          2) Trivia is structured the same way as any other game - people with more experience do better. "Experience"...is not just memorizing answers. You need to know certain critical shortcuts. Like putting in last names instead of full names, always pretyping "smith" and "left" and "right" for the general category, doing "fish, mercury, and propeller" for the science category, which means you need to be very quick with the :: right off the bat. These techniques could be comparable to rushing in wb, using full charges unfairly, teaming, running, etc. As people are good or bad typers...people are also good or bad with hand-eye coordination. If trivia were to remain competitive whatsoever, there would be little to no changes made. Of course, a less competetive environment would draw a bigger crowd, but then the rest of us who like to gloat when we win takes me back to my idea about a 1v1 TWTL (trench wars triv league).

                          3) This should maybe be a new thread, but screw it :P ====

Building off of the league concept, a bot, aptly named...Goldmember...ha just kidding it'd probably be called TrivBot or something - would allow people to !challenge others to 1v1 trivia duels - people are pm'd the questions, and in response pm the bot the answer. Complete new set of 1000 questions, which can be purchased relatively cheaply ($12.95 some places) in online stores. !setrules could be a game to 5 or 10, and winby2 would make sense. Controling the fact that people will seek help from others to answer questions might be difficult, but could be solved by reducing the alloted time for an answer. Another problem I see is with the large number of different games going on at once, TrivBot might not withstand it and might be spammed (or spam itself) into oblivion. THIS could be solved by limiting the number of guesses a person can make for each question (like only accept the first 5 guesses (which would also discourage pretyping and macros)) and ?ignoring the person from after their 5th guess to the end of the question. Ranking system would include no new concepts. At the end of a trivia season, the top 16 players (or whatever) would be invited to participate in trivia brackets, OR, one massive game of trivia with our friend Triviabot, making the final scores of that game that person's finishing place in the season. Tiebreaker games could be played if necessary, but since 1st place is already taken, there wouldn't be much of a point. Oh and as a final touch, last names should NOT be accepted by themselves for league - they are sometimes too guessable and do not require any knowledge of the person's first name..obviously.

As bedtime draws closer and closer, I leave you with the answer to my signature -

Triviabot> No one has given the correct answer "Calculus".

Have you ever played it brink? The same 3 people answer all the questions before you've even read it. Even if you know all the answers if you havne't memorized all the questions you can't get more than a handful of answers.

(plus it's unfair to people on modems or such who don't get the questions as quickly)

there should be team games in trivia, where you can confer with ur freq then the captain submits an answer to the bot or quiz-master if its a manual one.

and every right answer gets one point.

possibly put blueout on incase anyone wants to spoil it.

May take a while per game but i think this could be fun.
