Over isnt 1 of the abuse smods? mod? what r u nowdays over? He didnt abuse or do nething THAT horrible. Sure the guy should of been warned/banned/something faster maybe, but maybe over was just making sure something was goin on b4 he reacted to fast. I wsant there for the situation, or seen what happend so i dont know to much info, but i do know there are ppl on staff 100 x's worst then overstrand, and i think that maybe if there was a mix up or confusion on if lag cheaters get a warning, then i think someone on staff should make it known the real thing to do. Everyone always complains when mods react to fast w/o thinking, and bannign w/o purpose or this and that, now a staffer takes his time and he's bitshed at for that. Give the man a break, he got hte guy to spec atleast he didnt let him just lagcheat.

Nas like u said "Asking to stop cheating makes no sense to me, cheating is acting against the rules with purpose." So is TKing when someone TK's, yet they get a warning, same goes for someone spaming, they are spaming KNOWING the rules, yet they get a warning. A warning should be givin, sometimes ppl think others are lagcheating when they simply arent, or they just have a bad connection. I know DanyalDenyo got quite a few cheater calls for lagcheating, when we all know it wasnt him lagcheating, it was his herd of camals which is his internet conenction.

I'll admit I kept playing while I should have dropped everything and investigated the issue but after I specced and was watching Jako, Mattey still thought I was doing nothing. Well, I was watching his ping so If I did have to do something I could have proof...jumping around on the screen isn't proof enough for me.

I find this language to be a little harsh. I don't know why the rules are so clear to you... I can tell you from experience as a mod that how to react if someone is lag cheating is a pretty fuzzy area. I wouldn't go nuts over "abuse" like this. Lag cheating is subjective. It's a very fuzzy area, as I said before, and every mod would handle it differently. Most wouldn't really bother at all. My rule is if they guy is dying then he can stay. I've been called to "lag cheaters" many times and I've only specced someone once. That's it. Usually players on one team demand action when it isn't nessecary. I know many staffers who really don't like the lag cheating rule because its hard to enforce. I would be weary of saying a mod should be axed over a lag cheating situation. What would be worse is if Overstrand took unnessecary action, that would be real abuse.

I've never seen anything bad from Overstrand and this story isn't the most compelling I've ever heard.

He admitted to using a third-party program that induced lag while playing. There was no fuzziness around the area. He was skipping all over the place, and admitted to lagcheating. What more proof is needed? Seeing all these dumbasses in position of Mod makes me regret leaving staff. And the rule of "if they die" is fucking retarded. Many people that don't lag at all take hits from boost lag. Hits aren't my major concern with lagcheaters. It's when there ship turns 120 degrees in a millisecond to shoot at me and then skips away right after the shot.


Some cases of lagcheating are fuzzy, this one obviously was not. Overstrand fucked up, but nothing will happen because TW staff condones lagcheating.


There needs to be a group of mods that know what it's like to play against lagcheaters competitively (READ: not on squads that aren't in leagues, READ FURTHER: Paladen). All these mods on shitty squads, that don't know how frustrating it is to play against lagcheaters really shouldn't be taking these calls.

Mattey, i agree that mods on TWL squads probably would be quicker to react to a lag cheater bc they play vs them more, but Paladen is in TWD, so they do play vs guys who lag just like u. U also have to remember, b4 u were around Paladen was winning in TWL, and alot of there mods+ were on paladen or other squads back then in TWL when cheating was more likely then it is now. Im not saying ur wrong, but i think ur saying it the wrong way.
