  • Erasing Hard Drive

How can you erase certain items from your hard drive, like Internet History. I'm not great with computers so if you have any programs that will work can you give me links? Any help will be useful

Crap Cleaner gets the job done.

      http://ccleaner.com/download

Or you can just go to your Internet Explorer Options by going to Tools / Internet Options / And then "Clear History"

Always try the manual way first (like through 'Internet Options') as Little Slick has suggested unless the program does something for you you can't do.

if you want to clear "everything" delete cookies and temp files too (cache). also in internet options
Ill-timed force will be ineffective; act with precision; timing is everything. Knowing where and when to strike is more important than strength; misapplied ability is disability. Unreasonable or undue force will defeat itself

Use firefox instead. Much easier to get rid of the history. Just delete all the sites under "history".

Don't forget about the file called index.dat. There's several scattered in various places on your hard drive. The files are used by Microsoft to monitor your computer usage habits. To delete them, you need to start your computer in safe mode with a DOS prompt.
At the prompt C:\> "dir index.dat /s" to see all of them. then "del index.dat /s" to delete them.
New index.dat files will be made automatically to replace the deleted ones but at least that history is gone... and some of them can get pretty big, taking up hard drive space.

Well you could use firefox and the stealther extension.

If you want to use IE look at what time you start what you don't want to be seen. Do whatever you want. Open up your history and delete what you want out of that. Delete what you searched for in the search engine input thingy. Run a search for on your computer for all files created or modified since the time you began.
