  • Formatting your computer

So anyway, I jizzed all over my computer by downloading shitloads off of download.com and I got someone from down the corridor to format the computer and put everything back on it, and it works fine except for two things:

    1) I left my sonicstage cd at home (the program used for putting songs onto minidisc), anyone know how to get it without using kazaa?

    2) This pissing mouse wheel only moves about 5mm with one turn, anyone know how to make it move more? I've tried going into control panel and mouse settings but got dick all

what kind of MD player do you have?

If you're using a logitech, or microsoft wheel mouse, you may need to download their updated driver software.

I have a MZ-N910. I zipped up the Sonic Stage install files and it came to 335MB. This means:
      1. It's too big to upload to some convenient webspace for you to download from.
      2. You'd have to get it directly from my computer overnight, either by AIM or FTP, which would take 4+ hours probably.
      3. I'll snail mail you a backup if needed.

Heh, you don't need to go to that trouble nockm, I'll just have to wait until easter until I go home and get the cd off of my mum, but thanks for the offer!

The MD I'm using is Sony, Sonicstage is the program used for all Sony minidiscs, and I'm using a microsoft wheel mouse. The bit that gets me is that I bought the mouse after the laptop and just plugged it in and it worked, now I've done a system restore on the pooter and just plugged it in again and the wheel doesn't scroll as much which leads me to think I can change it by using what's already on my pooter

You can fix the mouse scrolling thing by editing the following registry key:

          [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]WheelScrollLines

There's probably a proper way of doing it, but I don't know what it is.

MS Intellipoint mouse software has the option to change how many lines the scroll wheel moves with each roll. Might be worth downloading and installing (I assume it's free).

              Then go to:
Control Panel -> Mouse, select the Wheel tab and adjust it.

Ok, here is what he is trying to say:

go to Start and click Run. type 'regedit' in the box and hit enter.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER> Control Panel> Dektop.

scroll down on the right column to the bottom and double click the entry named 'WheelScrollLines'. (should be the last entry in the list)

Now the Value of this is set at a specific amount, if it is set at 3 (default) then every time you scroll, it will scroll 3 lines up or down (depending on which direction you are scrolling).

Change this value to however many lines you wish to scroll per notch and click OK. exit the Registry editor and it should now be fixed.

(I hope all this made sense... You may need to restart your computer to finish it, I dont know as I have never messed about with this value.)

Last question: Norton now thinks I haven't paid for my liveupdate as I formatted my pooter when in fact I've paid for it until jan '05, any way of telling it I have? The synaptics site is a pile of wank

regedit is confusing unless you're experienced in the field of screwing with people. regedit is the only funny was to screw with people anymore.
