Should we raise resolution limits in TWDD/TWJD?

If you want to balance the playing field for newer technology, the same argument used for higher resolution can also be used for everyone in the fucking world playing on high speed connections in 2010. although i do agree that the limits could be lowered a bit (ploss limit to 1.5/weapon ploss limit to 0.5/spike med limit to 15.0, and possibly current / average limits to 250 - 300 -- depending if we want australians/asians/dialuppers to play or not).

i'm indifferent about the resolution change either way. i will use the default resolution (1280x986 windowed) even if the resolution limits were removed completely. it's the perfect resolution for me, as i can multitask easily with that while playing this silly game. but some people want to play full screen, and due to them having 1980x1200 (or similar) resolution they can't play full screen without the screen looking like crap. :fear:

i heard it's possible to have two servers in one zone, thus we could possibly get an euro server and an american server and run them simultaneously in one zone. that could eliminate some lag issues, as europeans can't get below 100ms (unless you live in western europe) as the fucking laws of physics (specifically, the fucking speed of light thing) make that impossible to achieve even with the greatest connection on earth. -_-

In fact because I have like 70ms I might as well just quit this stupid game unless they bring the lag limits to a more "2010ish" level and stop letting those stupid 1990 and early 2000's crappy low speed broadband connections play. It is an eyesore and it makes my gaming experience terrible, I can hardly see anything when they are lagging all about.

My 2 cents

You want to bring new people to this game, but expect them to play on a crappy res?

How significant is the larger res advantage?

Get some equally skilled warbirds and have them test it out. Do a couple of matches (like 10) with each on the same res. Then do another 10 with one at a higher res. And then switch it for another 10. A total of 30 matches.

You can even do a test where a mod tells each player secretly which res to use, and then interview them after to see if they felt the other player had a res advantage.


All in all, arguing about this without any data just seems moot.
