Thats true epi, but unfortunatly not all squadcaptains think like that. If a top player, or even a good player comes along they feel the urge to pick him up, as well as i would, but u'll never have more then a few top squads if they keep recruiting. The roster limit would work if it would be done correctly. The last 2 seasons ther wasnt really a roster limit, sure we said there was but nothign was done if u went over it. Just like there was a "soft" and a "hard" lock this season. The soft lock was a joke and wasnt even used.

Awesome: im not trying to tell captains how to run there squads, thats there buisness and up to them. Personaly i dont care if rosters have 100 ppl on them bc when i was cap of cripz i always had a large amount so we could play alot of games, but the fact is this thread was made to point out the lack of competative squads this season so far, and i would have to agree partly. Only 1-2 squads in each league who have a real chance at winning, the rest are just there. One way i think would help make more squads be competative is to have a roster limit so the top squads can stop stealing the best players from the lower squads, and so the top squads stop stealing all the "top prospects" so to say. If we dont put one on its no hair off my nuts bc i dont care, im trying to give out opionions of what i think is making less squads competative.

The best players want to be on the best squads. It's hard for good squads to reject a good player who wants to join.. there should be roster limits.

Here let me comment on this the right way. Many TW players don't want to join really good squads for good reason. 1) if you join a less favorable squad you will become more noticed and actually make an impact, 2) playing on a underdog squad can improve your solo skills, and 3) alot of people join squads to be with friends rather than to get on a squad because they perform well in a JD.

Plus I don't get people, just because you joined a good squad, you don't instantly become good, and with that, your set of bragging rights. No people, you still have to do work like the rest to become good *newsflash*. For those people who join good squads just to win, even knowing themselves won't be playing much, I guess your priorities are different, but to me, if you're not noticeable in a squad or at least create SOME impact, you're in the wrong squad.

Well squads that already have a bucnh of people, say sk8, are not going to go for a small roster rule. Some are inactive, but i bet over 30 are, and even 30 minght be too much to still make the league competitive. I think the leagues would be better if only 15 or so people were allowed on each squad, then it would be required be active. Also a 1 change to this 15 man roster during the middle of the season. this would raise loyalty and activity, and force squads to consolodate.

Main reason why squad roster limit is stupid:

If a roster's big, that means that there's less chance for people on that roster to play. If somoene wants to play that's on a big roster, they'll get the idea and leave for a squad where they can participate. While "hoarding talent" may be a problem for professional sports teams with SALARIED players, BOUND BY CONTRACT, it is not a problem with a free spaceship game where players are not bound by legal ties--they can split and take their baseball cards with them at any time if they don't like the squad or their playing time.

Otherwise, if a player doesn't have that much playing time and doesn't want it, he or she (OMG GIRLZ) might stay on the squad that they like for other reasons.

Enforcing squad player limits is fruitless.

I wasnt planning on posting on this thread but the way it evolved made me..
If u check twd rosters u can easily conclude that squads like Pallies, Grapevine and Sk8 have rosters around 35 players. Maybe this doesnt work for Grapevine because they arent that old but both Pallies and Sk8 and years and years of existence. That fact makes them have ppl in their roster that prolly doesnt even play anymore like they used before, but the simple fact that they are in the squad for a LONG time, will guarantee a roster spot. The captains show some RESPECT for players like that.
When it comes TWL time (we did that last season) we pick up those players and decide NOT to play them in the league since there is a 35 max limit.
In my opinion the limits are useless though.
Another question, why have 35 players in the roster? honestly I do think if u want to be competitive in all 3 leagues plus be really active in TWD during Euro / American timezones u need around that number.

I understand team like Elusive / syndicate / Venom dont need it but first of all they arent THAT active in TWD and... come on the skill of some of those players make them play all 3 leagues well. They are the TOP of the tops.

the big rosters could have something to do with twd.

when a squad is rewarded the same for playing 5 games against easy easy easy opponents as they are for playing once against a very good one, it isn't hard to assume which they will chose.

maybe a cap needs to be put into twd?

or maybe something like a game limit has to be put into twd? only 3 games per league count a day?

you could still play after, but they wouldn't count? beats me

right now grapevine has like 40 people because we can. i think we have like 28 who are actually active. blame twd.

and they made Diso's playoff spot in TWLD a little more comfortable with 3rd place instead of 4th (was a close conference from 2nd to 6th)
