Yeah I usually cant be bothered to turn up to league games. I used to schedule my life around TWL. I simply don't give a shit this season. I think it's because there are only about 4 good squads. Every game is the same. After TWL i'm considering making a 6-spid squad, i'll see how I feel at the time. Another alternative is to change the map, use 2 entrances to ruin cramming and allow all ships again.

I feel the same with Hercules, even though I had this feeling for like last 3 seasons. There are no myths anymore, the 'ss-gods' are gone, there is nothing left to gain after so many years of playing. This will be my last TWL, then I'll move on.

The real problem is that out of 16 squads hardly 10 are good enough to be in the league. Reducing squads would make things more competitive and would make it so that all the top squads could at least play vs each other in offseason, which makes sense since it's TWL afterall. TWL should be the best squads playing vs eachother.
Like Disoblige this season doesn't even have to play vs Dice and Pirates in LD, two games I'd enjoy playing a lot more than vs a Locket/Speed/Heavy (no offense, not only do i not know you guys i also don't find you very competitive).
LJ is even worse off as a league, there are hardly 8 good teams to go to the playoffs, and still Disoblige doesn't even get to play vs either -F- or Dice in offseason, what the hell, Is this twd or twl?
Then in LB we don't get to play vs powerhouse Dice, the only game that could become interesting this regular season for either squad (10:0 or 9:1) this LB. We also won't get to face Spastic, who are always fun to beat since they once stole my title when I was on holidays (I fucking love summerleagues (sarcasm)) I say next season reduce it to 11 teams and/or go back to a two tier system, to still give squads who are simply not good enough for TWL something to compete for. With only 11 squads all will get to face eachother, and the best teams won't be wondering why they won't get to play vs the other top squads. Then the top 4 battle for title in best of 3 series in semis and best of 5 in finals (to bring more meaning to a win).

But yes, it could be that we're just all getting old and eventhough we want to can't bring up the same hype these days, because a lot of us have seen it all before or have given up trying to get to the top. And the older our memories of the past become the prettier and more nostalgic they get.
To me it's pretty much my squadmates that keep me playing this and the fact I can still make sundayevening my free evening of the week. I'm just waiting till playoffs start really..

Ok after playing for 5 years i intend to quit this summer after twl and go away from computer games. The game is not what it was. For me it used to be like some buzz playing this game, my screen was full of red chat and there was always an event/base going on. Now days Base is only played late baseelim is fucking dead period few events get hosted. The game is not fun the population is older. This time two years ago the population was what, 750? at max now it cant hit 500. This game needs to be advertised on a site like www.miniclip.com and boost the population up massively or it needs to be sold to a company and left them introduce a serious pay 2 play version with leagues and prizes.

I don't think the game has lost mojo, the people that run it have. Until we get a new version of Continuum, and a sysop that comes on more then once a year - the problem will never change. TW has plenty of players, and even more stuff to do then ever. Problem is, nothing ever works right, or on time, so people get frustrated and don't care.

subspace is dying period. first it started with the weaker zones, like 17th parallel and dsb for example. those zones are complete trash now and about 10-20% of the population they had at their peak.

the interesting thing was that during that time TW actually grew in population, but that was just a result of the weak zones dying off and feeding tw players. consolidation in a dying community is the way things work.

i myself came over from dsb a few years ago after that zone started to suck. dsb is down to only one pub now, and i hear their leagues are a total joke. now tw is finally on the downhill slide itself, and the population is going to slowly dwindle from here on out. only thing that can change that is if the game can start spreading the word a little better and actually bringing in new people to play.

my prediction:

one more season with 16 team leagues after this one, and then the next season after that they will have to cut it to 12, then downhill from there. sucks to say it but its probably true. i still have fun playing this game, but it needs to be advertised to maintain a stable pop.

meow i think draft league should become the main league so then squads couldn't get so incredibly stacked like syndicate who has like 7 players on their bench who should start for a twl squad, not necessarily syndicate but they are definately better than other squad's starters. This is the case for a lot of squads and it's just funny to see really good people on the bench who should definately start in twl.

I think bram hit the nail on the head. This season lacks the good games. There is only like 1 game per league per weekend which is worth watching. Why do i want to watch Dice vs Heavy in TWLJ, or Someone vs Squad!! / locket in TWLD? Or even in LB there are like 3 squads who have a real shot at winning TWLB and the rest are just fill in squads. What we need is to cut the roster sizes down so 1 league squads dont have 50 players, then we need to cut the squad # down to 10 squad per league or something lower then that so that way the competition is way better. We dont need melee, heavy, kose and 300 newbies in twlj thats just boring.

but alot of the problem above comes from what bike says. Dont see why any squad needs 5 ppl on the bench who can start for any other TWL squad every weekend.
