If were talking about twl becoming shit, why dont you just enforce roster rules of 15-20.. There will be a lot more competitive squads. Enforce an inactivity rule. Bring back the old events (they are doing it now). Get players to sign up by advertising. Do what you got to do, take pubbers.. stop saying its going to die. Contribute to the zone, not demolish it. Maybe a new league, something to spice it up, new event, some thing fun.

i don't like the idea of small rosters, it will force all the old guys to get active or quit, i think we can all see where that will lead to..

maybe something more difficult to impose, but not impossible, force twl-squads to take up like 5 new players each season (not just 5 new recruits, but players who definately haven't been in twl before and only in twd/tw for a short time)
in the past it was natural for the squads (except for the absolute top probably) to look for players in pub/elim, because of twd i don't think any twl-squad does this anymore.
i wouldn't mind recruiting a few complete newbies, they might even listen to me and become good players unlike these utterly useless squadmates i got right now. -_- but yeah i only play on sundays really and i think most squads do these days.. so that's another problem. :P

Forcing squads to do something they dont like i.e. forced to reduce their roster size or forced to recruit newbies to keep roster size up is fucking retarded. Best idea to add more competition to allow for only 20 spaces in LEAGUE roster for 1 league squad and 35 spaces for 3 league squads, and 30 for 2 league squads on league roster. Something like that would be better than reducing league roster to 15-20 for a 3 league squad.

this is actually a pretty good idea.

allow twd roster to do wht it wants, but twl:
single league 15 (unless basing, then 20 or 25 is probably better)
2 leage 20-25
3 league 30-35 (would still liek to see this dropped by 5 or so, just to spread the talent around a bit more)

This isn't professional sports, no salary cap here. If a team wants to stack a team, let them. It's always nice to see underdog teams try and go for the upset.

While in no way have I ever been in a 'successful' squad, I have been playing for quite some time now. The squad I'm on is made of guys I've known for a fair while on Subspace, and we're okay, but nothing special - that's the description I'd use for a lot of the squads in TWJD (I do not follow any other) right now. While occasionally we get trounced by someone, we turn round and slay them right back. It's just too random to tell whether either squad will win (rosters only say so much).

Much like my own skill level. Because I've been playing for so long, I remember some times when I kicked ass for weeks on end. For me, it's not that I have got worse, it's that my performance is more erratic. Sometimes I get 12-4 against some good players, sometimes I get 3-10 against SSGokuX * 4. The only way for this to improve is for my squad-mates to smooth it over. I wrote a program (Python rules) to analyse (or at least make educated guesses on) how well I team with other people, and it consistently points to certain guys. I don't know if I'd be on the TWL roster for Sixies, but if I was, I'd need at least 2 others with me - often players that are crap when I'm not around.

And so it goes. My feelings in general are that people are individually worse at the game than before, but work better as a team. I can't pretend this is any of my doing, because I'm hardly a prominent person in the zone, but I certainly encourage it in any squad I'm on.

I wasn't interested in leagues or whatever when I started in Trench Wars, but since 2000 (I think?) onwards I've been participating in divisions. For anybody scratching their heads trying to remember me, I'm Lag.Com/TildeStar/Lag.UK. My laughable claims to fame are being on British Squad and sucking, and having a great deal of fun on No Surrender.

So yeah. New blood is good. It helps that SS is free (now). If it wasn't it would have died ages ago, it just can't compete with newer games.

Could the reason why this yrs twl isnt as exciting as before is due to all the very good players stayin on only a couple of squads (as opposed to like 6 squads)?

This would leave plenty of room for new squads to be in twl, decreasing the level of competition. Mayb im wrong- ive not played long enough to know :P

Squads like dice/ hydra have got over 8-10 very good players- if these players were seperated in different squads- would twl be more competitive?
