    idiot wage, u scared me

    anyways, regarding this:
Squads that dissolve or drop out of TWL are not replaced with the next highest-ranking TWD squad. Instead, all games that would have been played against the squad would be marked 50-0 or 15:00-0:00.

Reason: to make things simpler and cleaner.

if you're not replacing the squad, i'd reckon you'd have to make EVERY game the squad will play and HAS PLAYED all 50-0. tiebreakers come into play quite often and a 50-0 win is a huge boost. i still don't see the problem with having the highest ranked twd squad as the replacement, though.

yeah, no one really explained why the replacement squad plan that's been in tact for years is bad. i already explained in my other post why it makes sense

How many Drop outs/replacements did we have last year in all the leagues... 13? to my knowledge.. TWLJ was a laughing stock. If it were just 1, this wouldnt be an issue.

          1. I don't see how a 'behaviour ban' should affect a 'league'. If a player gets banned for being an idiot in elim, i still think he should be able to play in TWL. If you cheat, ok, but I think TWL is all about competitiveness, so i'd like to keep things seperated. Technically, only TWL ops should be able to ban someone from leagues, not some 'pub moderator'. I don't want some shitty staff people who have no sense of humour and are powerhungry affect the outcome of TWL.

          2. I don't see how not adding any replacing squad in case of a drop out / dissolving is an improvement to the system. Sure i understand that after a few games played it will be hard to qualify, but I am pretty sure that most 'new squads' will enjoy the TWL time given to them. At least it's their first TWL experience.

          3. I don't see how the surprise qualification is an improvement to the current system. I'd say you just set a date. Pick squads. Review those squads. If it turns out a squad misused the twd system to qualify you can allways deny entrance. If you are not sure, let all other captains in TWL vote which squad should be in. Or gather a meeting. It's pretty stupid to do a surprise qualification, while you pretend TWL to be of some 'status'. Plus I don't like a manual chosen lottery at all, since YOU (or TWL ops) will decide that way who will get in or not. Would you pick a moment where your squad is currently sucking?

I agree with Nas on all 3 points.

            1) Sadly enough, even more than back in the days, it's shitheads like Ruby and Eelam that motivate a lot of players to come and watch/play in TWL.. They're most likely to get banned with a behaviour rule, which wouldn't make things better for the league.. Just try to have strong/neutral leaders for TWL this time, so no one has a good reason to start bitching..

            2) Last season clearly had too many replacement squads, however that had more to do with TWL trying to aim for 12 squads instead of 8, which changed this season, so there will hopefully be just a few replacement squads. It's better for a squad to be playing vs a replacement squad than having a week off.. It gives you a chance to rotate your roster for instance, while a week off just doesn't help at all.

            3) A surprise qualification sounds like some bull shit thing to do so staff doesn't have to deal with the squads who have lamed their way to a high rank and then see a squad ranked lower being picked over them for TWL.. Just have capable staffers or influential players picking the TWL squads. Don't make some stupid rule which just shows your insecure about making important decisions in a league..

I think thats exactly what MirrorriM is suggesting :fear:

I personally think we need to apply the squad rule to twl ops decisions. If your squad in affected in any way (directly or indirectly) by a twl decision you shouldnt be involved in it.

                1. If players want to break rules, then they better make sure the ban doesnt coincide with a TWL Round. The point of these rules revisions is to attempt to limit how much is open to interpretation as much as possible, and I'm not going to start reviewing people's bans to see if they are okay to play.

                3. Both of you suggest using exactly what I'm trying to avoid: interpret what squads I think should be in TWL based on whatever stats I deem significant. Lame does have a unique idea about polling squad captains, but I'm not going to review/let "influential players" pick TWL squads, nor am I going to deny entrance based on some unknown definition of abusing the system.

I want things to be as clear cut as possible. I want everyone to know what, exactly, will get them into TWL. If anyone has some suggestions about what they think would stop squads from abusing the system, feel free to respond. Unless, of course, since your squad wasnt affected by this rule, you dont care. I'm trying to look out for all squads entering TWL and avoid the problems from last year. So far, I'll be looking at who qualifies pretty simply: the squad meets all qualification requirements, and they qualify based on the TWD ladder.

Anyone have anything else they think should be looked at quantitatively?

P.S. Lame: it's hard to trust anyone on this game, I realize that, but I would pick a preset time and hold it. However I don't know how to prove it to you (any time capsules online??). Like I said, these can be changed with enough opinions. I find it interesting that you are worried about what time TWL Ops would choose for the qualification, but youre not worried about me deeming your squad unworthy of TWL competition and mine worthy?

It's not that i don't trust you, it's just that things should be clear, just like you stated.

Just let top X qualify. If a few good squads are left out because of 'feeders', just grant a few wild cards and expand leagues. :fear:

Well, we do have a wildcard option: TWDC. I guess that will have to be enough if no one has any other ideas.

Just had this idea (probably not new)
                      Instead of using only "Rating"
Add "Rating and avg rating of opponent together"
That way you will be penalised for playing too much weak opponent...
                      Current TWD
                      Code:
                      				avg oppnent	rating
                      1	Paladen 1148	1566
                      2	Battle 1149	1369
                      3	Pirates 1135	1330
                      4	HEAVY 1146	1310
                      5	Rape 1071	1310
                      6	Thunder 1159	1283
                      7	dicE 1129	1264
                      8	Sweet 1107	1228
                      9	Spastic 1109	1218
                      10	QuickSand 1134	1190
                      11	Possesed 1073	1102
                      12	Penetrate 980	1101
                      13	Plade 1017	1076
                      14	ReJeCtEd BaSeRs 998	1046
                      15	NC17 970	1040
                      16	Virus 1033	1039
Under my system top 16 in TWD would look like this.
                      Code:
avg oppnent	rating	overall rating (ave + score)
                      1	Paladen 1148	1566	2714
                      2	Battle 1149	1369	2518
                      3	Pirates 1135	1330	2465
                      4	HEAVY 1146	1310	2456
                      5	Thunder 1159	1283	2442
                      6	dicE 1129	1264	2393
                      7	Rape 1071	1310	2381
                      8	Sweet 1107	1228	2335
                      9	Spastic 1109	1218	2327
                      10	QuickSand 1134	1190	2324
                      11	Possesed 1073	1102	2175
                      12	Dynasty 1097	1014	2111
                      13	Plade 1017	1076	2093
                      14	Penetrate 980	1101	2081
                      15	Young Guns 1088	989	2077
                      16	Virus 1033	1039	2072
As you can see the table is largely unchanged, except squad "Rape" has lost alot of positions due to the fact it has played alot of weak squads. Also NC17 has lost some position as it mainly played squads with low points

The disadvantage of this system however is it discourages good squads from playing weak squads as it will effect their ave. However being that playing weak squad pretty much guarantees them points it should even things out..

Idk if this idea would work in practice but im throwing it out there

You want STABLE squads, not squads that pop up right before twl, play 150 games in 2 weeks and dissolve halfway through. Seriously rethink this, for the quality of the leagues, dont want another pathetic season like the one we had with pascone.

I don't think a minimum of 50 games is unreasonable. In any case, I don't see how your arguement applies to the 50 game minimum anyways. At the very least, a minimum game requirement will help ensure that the squad is active. Maybe something else could be done to stop squads forming 2 weeks prior, like making it a requirement to have been a TWD squad for more than 2 or 3 weeks.

So youre saying you want the requirement increased? Because decreasing it back to 15 does not follow the theory of stable squads.

I didnt really have an argument I only think it is kinda difficult for a squad (like oh say.. diso) to get 50 twbd games in a month or so cos we only play on sundays, but this doesnt mean we shouldnt be allowed in twlb cos we are *probably* good enough (and stable) even if we only play 30 games, but win 25 of them. I do agree with what you said in the end tho, stable squads with loyal members will have more to gain if you enforce a rule that says the squad will have to exist for a couple of weeks before twl.

the surprise qual is retarded, i'm not sure why but i just want to say two twl's ago penetrate wouldn't've made it into twl if it wasn't for that last day to qualify. that would've sucked dick because we made up nearly 200-ish points that day i do believe.

i think you should incorporate it in your rules so it becomes mandatory for mantra to merge with my squadron.
