I think the problem is people are trying to change twl and rip it apart and analyse this and that like its the whole problem the tw,s population is falling, stop making changes in twl and get back to the basics, yesterday it took three hours of people calling help calls to even get a bot in elim, why is twl, Twlb is this case losing population? Because the veteran players are bored of it, and they would be still bored of it with two terriors or however many spider they can use. The thing is this problem of the decrease in twlb winners and veteran and ex players, wouldn't be noticed had there been a fresh load of new players from pubs, ?go base etc in to fill the gaps. Basicly what im getting at is, don't change the end game (twl) when the problem is getting fresh and new players into the game, So concentrate on public arenas, Elims and a good variety of events.

We are not so much changing the TWL Rules and procedures as much as we are amending them to close loopholes that can be abused, and making them much more clear and concise. TWL is one of many leagues in this zone, and trust me when I say there are plenty of people working on TWD, elim/belim, pub, events, and other leagues. Just because all of TW Staff is giving their input on the rules revisions for TWL doesn't mean that's the only thing TW Staff is doing right now.

Final revisions on the rules have been completed and are being reviewed by TWL Staff and TW Staff collectively. I'm sure the date should be announced any day now. Please try to be patient; past seasons have had problems due to failure to prepare. We are just making sure that this season we don't have any more unfortunate incidents.

so even though it's pretty much a sure thing that the change wouldn't have affected even 1 game, it's been removed. It's pretty much a sure thing that it wouldn't cause a 15-0 game (honestly after 10 mins of failing, why do you think they wouldn't go back to their original strategy? Plus the few tests of it didn't produce blow-outs)

you shouldn't have even told anyone about the change (with maybe the exception of diso, so they could surprise everyone).

do you really need a month to test it? are you really that dependent on one boilerplate strategy that you couldn't find another way to win anyway? That says a lot about your skills as a player, and a lot about your skills at following a pattern.

The best basing team should win regardless of ship restrictions, ship changes, or even map changes. As a matter of opinion, it would show even more dominance if a team is adaptable enough to win given several scenarios, as opposed to practicing and perfecting one monotonous method.

This makes NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER. Maybe it should have been presented earlier, but as everyone with any common sense has said, it really wouldn't have made a difference: Squads are going to stick with what they feel comfortable with that they think will help them win.

So in essense, the only way you could possible be against the rule change is if you thought it would dramatically diminsh your chances of winning. No one has provided any evidence (albeit some far-fetched 15-0 promises from out of the blue that were initially disproven) that this strategy would hinder your team's ability to win. NONE WHAT SO EVER. If anything, it would help you if the other team did it (although that seems to be a BIG problem for some people on here, i guess they think they're so good the only way anyone can come close to them is by keeping the same strategy they've used for years).




Go ahead and dismiss it, because since i've never played TWLB, i must not have a clue how any of this works. It's way too complicated to figure out from a few bds or pub base games or pages upon pages of arguments. It's THAT compicated. There's NO WAY anyone who hasn't won an LB title could possibly improve upon this game. Grow up and take it in stride, maybe it'll make you a better player (or are yall so good there's no room for improvement?)

you seem to be one of the most level-headed people on staff, though maybe a bit naive with the reactions this would get. i hope you can see past the squad rivalries that are comsuming this debate and really ask yourself "How big of an effect will this really have? Will this ruin TWLB?" Those are really the only two questions that should figure in. How well it's accepted by people who think they've got it in the bag, and don't want anything to spoil it shouldn't really factor in.


EDIT: one more thing: if any squad boycotts TWL, they should be permabanned from ever competing in it. it's a contest of team skills, not team egos. With all the fuss over teams dropping out, i'd think hard about allowing teams in who threaten to "walk out" over a slight rule change. After all, it's not up to them to set the rules, but to follow them.

Okay I gotta admit defeat now. A certain higher up decided to change the ?go base bot to points race and remove 2 terrs from TWBD and threatened the bot guys that they would be fired if they changed anything, without telling me. (waits for applause to end). It provides truth for what I was looking for so I'm satisfied with how things have turned out. Gotta make one controversial decision as a TWL Op, right? :P No more 2 terrs! TWL has been saved.

I've played TWLB a couple seasons, and random LD here and there. I've only played 10 years, not 15. I rarely even sit in a public arena since I was on Dependency in 00-02/3 because that superterr thing was fun. The problem with you is, you don't even have your facts straight. You think because you've played some playoff LB that you're automatically right? 12 and 14 year olds have won on LB squads, it really has nothing to do with presenting an arguement worth listening to.
