TWL-B Week 3 : Hot or Not
Written by voth
This week in TWLB cleared up some questions in the league. First, Pirates defeated Mainliner rather easily, some would say solidifying themselves as currently the #3 team in TWLB. Thunder and Disoblige both continued their successful season with wins over Penetrate and BasingCrew, respectively. And finally, Spastic showed great signs of life with an impressive win over the defending champs.
Voth's HOT pick of the week: M_M God
M_M God excelled today in javelin against one of TWLB's most talented teams, Mainliner. He finished the game 71-39 with 7 TeKs on the day. Considering he was facing two formidable sharks (cranium and MirrorriM), and an always tough Mainliner spider core, those statistics drive home his status as one of the top javelins in TWLB this season. Good game buddy, keep up the good work.
Honorable Mention: Pirates, as a team, beat one of the league's most talented teams, Mainliner, 15-3. From their nearly flawless terring by zizu, to their dominating sharking by Mattey and Dwopple, to their scrappy and extremely efficient spider core, and finally that always dangerous javelin M_M god, Pirates clicked today to pickup a huge win. These two teams were widely considered the #3 and #4 seeds in TWLB, but it wasn't clear who took which slot until Pirates rather handily cleared up any confusion. Nice game boys. Da1andonly (83-50 with 4 TeKs in javelin), Nimbostratus (133-56, 1 TeK, and MVP in spider), Royst (156-86, 1 TeK in spider), zeebu (126-74, 4 TeKs in spider) all had excellent games for their teams. One other notable mention is that Spastic would not have won their game would it of not been for excellent spidering by their 4 spiders: Solace, Jamal, Anidalife, and Anon. Excellent game for spastic's spiders, hanging in there and prevailing over the defending champs. Then again, spiders are important, but without excellent sharking, good spiders are easily beatable, so props to PH and Stabwound for a solid game, and to Pure_Luck for a solid job in the red ship.
Voth's NOT pick of the week: Penetrate
Well, today was a rather interesting day in the Trenches for Penetrate. They came out very strong against a recently impressive Thunder team, fighting their way to a 12-5 lead. But alas, all good playing must come to an end, right fellas? What a tragedy this was. Considering neither team held a cram longer than approximately 30 seconds, this game was essentially one huge FR battle. So just how badly did Penetrate get dominated in the second half of this game? Thunder was able to secure a full 10 minutes, before Penetrate could even notch the final 3 minutes to win the game. And it's not as if Penetrate was held in mid by a iron curtain Thunder cram, they were in the flagroom, just couldn't seem to get in sync and work as a team to achieve and hold the flag. I'd just like to congratulate my squad on pulling off one of the ugliest chokes I've personally witnessed in my time playing this game, and in a TWLB game of all times! Clap clap.
Dishonorable Mention: Boo Mainliner! Boo! I had money on you to take the win against Pirates, but I guess until your players start getting serious and showing up to games, you're going to continue to have a rough time of it. I'm not really sure why you guys feel you've earned "veteran" status and can lolly-gag through regular season like Dice does. At least they have won something, you guys are just a bunch of chokers who can't seem to win when it counts. BasingCrew, please dissolve mid-TWL again so we can let Brainwave in and get some fight out of a squad instead of the garbage we witness with you guys every week. Finally, what would one of my articles be without throwing in a nice little bash of Dice? You guys are too cool for skool apparently, and don't think it's really necessary to show up in regular season. Then again, you're not really getting any experience against the current teams, and I think in the season that you have the most competition, the arrogance of you, champs, will get the best of you.
