Well we came across this type of thing a few seasons ago when some of the older squads were dying off... and i agreed back then, and especialy more now.. YOu gotta make the roster limits more strict, we dont simply got the amnt of players as b4, and especialy with ?go base dead the quality players in LB.

Take for example Pene who i <3 ofc, but they are 1 league squad, and 40+ ppl on it. Now i realize not all are active, some are old mofoz etc. Pandora 1 league and 34 on roster, Freebie 40+ (I guess they also wb?) Now thats 115+ ppl on 3 squads, again i realize not all are active, not all currently play etc, but the majority do actualy play regularly and u could form another 2 squads just from reserves basicaly.. Now i dunno how competative they'll be but when the players who will bench every single game for dice, pene, pandora etc join them squads yet just to bench, thats where u get ur problem. U cant blame the squads for recruiting depth, but in all honesty, whats so fun about joining a top squad to bench every game, and even if u win the title, whats so great?

Now is times where you miss squads like Rejected basers who actualy took the time to teach new ppl the game of LB, and unfortunatly with TWL so close u'll never get a new squad to form and actualy compete.

If the cap is as low as Stab suggests it could be, 25, I would think a few new squads would definitely form. The population is there. Old squads often reform intermittently and take back their old players from existing squads and TWD activity certainly doesn't go down.

A roster limit makes sense because of the simple fact that the big squads are just getting bigger with very few new teams. The result is that there is little place for new, skilled players to go which in the end negatively affects TWD activity and competitiveness.
This COULD help activity by having more squads. OR it could hinder activity because now there are fewer people on those squads, which means less likely to get enough for a game together all at the same time.

Theres no way to know for sure. You can look at the squads with huge rosters and look at how frequently they play compared to smaller rosterd squads but its still mostly just a guess.

    o_O

i dont think any squad is actively doing this and i think of anyone in sage that comes from pub or was brought through. Penetrate had the best record for this over the last few years dunno if their priorities have changed now jeen isn't at the helm. we should all encourage this but ideally the better squads that can afford to play weaker lines vs the other squads that should be taking some totally new ppl on board and showing them the ropes.

but pub isn't an inexhaustible resource and alot are aliasers and more not interested in joining squads or wouldn't get any real playing time.

I think we should start talking to other zones about inter-league tourneys, perhaps to raise awareness that TW is a pretty universal zone to Continuum players and most can adapt relatively quickly. Look at trauma, and other squads from DSB in the past. If we bring full squads over from other zones that will increase activity dramatically. We could also go over there a bit, to show our support for their dying zones. EG was fun the last time I played it competitively.

There are a couple of problems.

    1. You force basing on the populace so if and when they ever leave the pub they branch out to newer divisions.
    2. Basers are about the equivalent of Hockey Zoner's when it comes to inviting new players into their ranks.
    3. The current "new" playerbase is literally retarded and I am sure that even if you do advertise it won't help because you will get more retarded players who are also immersed in Evony and every other flash banner click to play for free now retarded mmorpg out there.
    4. Having bots warping people places in pub so that they never have to do any work themselves makes them invalids and basically useless for anything besides public arenas.
    5. No good players actively watch public arenas for people who aren't morons and try to get them out of the stagnant public arenas before they quit.
    6. Hiring staffers who can't spell or use proper grammar probably scares away the rest of the intelligent population who do decide to play. (Allow playir 2 come event, I host 4 u in ?go hunt - SouthernGal <ER>)
    7. All of the good basers congregate in the "pure pub" arena when there isn't basing going on and it forces the crappy pub newbies to quit the game because they keep getting owned, and the other unlucky few get tossed in a shitty second public arena with 10 afk people, five bots, and two people trying to cloak each other in the base.
    8. You catered to every last fucking whim to all the whiners and complainers from ?go base who play pub 10 minutes a day and got rid of levi's instead of telling them the same thing that taught people how to handle shit themselves, you fucked over leviterrs and caved to the demand of this whining group instead of just letting them get in a spider with antiwarp or a warbird and kill the levterr.

    -----

Solution: Undo everything you have done for public arenas in the last five years, kill the second pub and remove the arena limit from the first pub, get a larger base, don't use autowarp or bots to force people to do shit, allow leviterring and make people take care of their own fucking problems like the generation who currently is in top in TW had to do. Don't force people to base if they don't want to. And give a few good basers who are active privileges in ?go #mythrandir and keep a bot in there so they can invite promising newbies into games that they can learn in without the eliteness of ?go base, in turn that will get new players into the basing community, give them a better example of how to act properly, make them less useless, and get them immersed in the social aspects of the game by talking to other intelligent people that have gotten all of us addicted.

I think that roster should allow for inactive players with some rule or restriction on players on this list, much like a reserve in other sports, then a lower active roster cap should be implemented. Why? well we all remember back when diso was complaining that they couldn't bring their roster down because they have so many core but inactive members that belong on roster (GO FIGURE THEY ALL JOINED OTHER SQUADS NOW). Penetrate is no different, we have many people that won't be getting axed from roster despite their afk for 2-3 years now status, for the same reason.

Pressure d touched on this and I just want to reiterate it - twbd is super competitive right now and you really can't play a twbd match, unless its against trauma+, without having to play a top line to win the game. And my hat goes off for trauma+ to sticking with it despite facing squads that have been shitting on them with specials. Trauma+ is a lot better now but new players to continuum in general aren't gonna stick around for that, and I'd imagine that the only reason trauma+ did is cause EG numbers are dwindling and they are looking to continue playing the game. Now what to do about it....

Sigh, I actually agree with Burnt.

I know staff is trying to work within the confines of a dying populace but the effort should be put into bringing in more population instead of fucking with things and making people stop logging in.

Whatever happened to that huge advertisement campaign that was being tossed around a month ago?

There is most likely going to be a roster cap in TWD after this upcoming TWL season ends, and it's going to be something like 25. The TWL roster cap of 35 was put into place when we had more than double the average players online than we do now, so it only makes sense that it should be lowered, anyway.

What this game really needs, though, is an injection of brand new players. It's kind of frustrating to think about how even getting 200 more people online during the afternoons would mean 3-4 more active squads.

So you'll make most squads axe all their inactive players, and since there inactive they probably won't make their own squads, nor will any active squad want to waste their roster spots on inactive players, so they will have no squad at all and they'll just stop logging in at all and this will increase zone activity how? It will also make it less likely for inactive players to get active again if they have no squad to come back to. And with 25 people, basing squads will have a difficult time having enough on at one time to be active. So instead of having like 5 active BD squads you'll have none.

35 is a reasonable roster limit in TWL if you play all 3 leagues, so u either need to keep that or have separate rosters for each league or have different roster limits depending on how many leagues a squad plays.
