TWLD Week 6 is done. Here's what happened.
Penetrate vs Asians
41 - 50
Winner: Asians
After a rough couple of weeks for them, Asians rebound today with a necessary win over Penetrate. This game was tight for quite a long time with a lot of good performances from both sides (4 9-10 scores on Penetrate alone!). After minotar went out, however, Asians completely took over, led by a strong performance by Zagis (14-6) and impressive comebacks by Speedkillz (14-9) and MITB (11-8). With three weeks left, Asians are 4-2 and need to continue their strong play if they want to make the playoffs.
Paladen vs Sk8
35 - 50
Winner: Sk8
The first of two total blowouts today, although this one had a pretty close start to it with resurrected and alextron (8-10s) getting good starts. But those are really the only records to note for Paladen, as they got rocked by the Creature (13-7) and Ease (11-8) show today. Really just a strong showing from all players on Sk8 as nobody went negative in this one. It was all Sk8 after the first... 4 minutes or so.
Pandora vs Freebie
50 - 36
Winner: Pandora
The second blowout of the week features my own squad, and Freebie wasn't in this game at all. Mythril (16-7) and Casket (16-9) blew this game wide open for Pandora and never looked back. cleat (8-4) and Lasenza (7-10) did some great setup work for those two. Meanwhile, ricko (0-6 subbed) gives his best impression of me in his horrid performance this week. It's worth noting that saetep (11-10) was the only positive record for Freebie. Pandora is 4-2 and have what should be some fun to watch games ahead as they push for the playoffs.
Fierce vs Savanger (GAME(s) OF THE WEEK)
44 - 50
Winner: Savanger
Amazing game to watch, and if you missed it, be sure to check it out at http://www.youtube.com/fieryfire3d in the coming days. Effectively, this game came down to a record whoring match between Geio (18-10) and Peru (16-10) as both sides had players who put up huge numbers to try and carry their side to victory. Unfortunately for Kobe, it was not his team's day, as if you weren't named Geio or WAR, you've got a bit of explaining to do. Delectable (5-10), styles (5-10) and Weak (0-5) all failed to provide any kind of real support beyond just setting up kills, while Peru had strong support from Misled (10-5) and an amazing sub by Quartz (8-3). Good game from Savanger, congrats on the upset victory! Hopefully Fierce doesn't fall apart from this one.
Sweet vs Syne (GAME(s) OF THE WEEK)
50 - 47
Winner: Sweet
I don't think anyone expected this game to be this close, but man, Syne showed up and made it fun to watch. To give you an idea of how this game went down, at 6 minutes in, it was tied 21-21. At 10 minutes in, it was tied 34-34. At 12 minutes in? 41-41. 13:30 in, 44-44 tie. Tight game all the way through, and a great effort made by Sweet despite some rough moments to secure the win. a2m (7-9) has to have at least some responsibility for this one being as close as it did, as he missed some key shots in big junctures that allowed Syne to keep pushing back and making this one a classic. Thankfully for him, the combined efforts of Raspi (13-10), Regen (11-9), Vash (11-10) and a great sub from sacra (6-2) were enough to make up for it. On Syne's side, Infidelity (12-10) and MegaVysLectable (15-10) showed up and put up some big numbers to make this one memorable, while Paky (6-10) and Harder (6-10) dropped some... not really poor, but disappointing numbers. If Auger aka Rasaq would get off his high horse about not playing in TWL, maybe he could've subbed in and helped Syne pull off a huge upset. Alas.
HOT OF THE WEEK: Mythril and Casket. Straight up. The double 16 performance carried Pandora to a much needed victory over Freebie, and may have pushed them over the edge towards a playoff berth.
Honorable HOTs: Zagis, Speedkillz, Geio, Peru, MegaVysLectable
NOT OF THE WEEK: Delectable, Stylez and Weak. Really, guys? You have got to show up better than that. And Stylez, firing vys isn't going to help your cause whatsoever. You are my Super Not of the week.
Honorable NOTs: Ricko, Paky & Harder, Auger (come on man, stop being a dick)
Week 7 pits Fierce against Sweet, Savanger against Pandora, Sk8 against Syne, Freebie against Asians, and Penetrate vs Paladen. Should be a lot of close ones this week, and it will be an exciting week as teams vie to position themselves to make the TWLD playoffs.
