TWLB Qualifications Appeal - Sweet

My Official Response

fLaReD stated before the season started that all appeals would be decided on publicly by the TWL-Ops. Well here is my decision:

Despite the fact that it's weird to read a TWLB appeal from a squad that's not even in TWLB, I vote for this appeal to be APPROVED.

Reason #1: Despite that I know for a fact that everyone knew the real deadline was indeed Sunday night and that people are just grabbing at straws due to this injustice, the burden of being thorough lies with us (The TWL-Ops), and we failed to be clear about the time.

Reason #2: Sometimes it is best to reserve the right to use common sense instead of being a rule jockey. For the sake of being competitive, I believe we should at least give Sweet a chance to play in TWLB as the only squads hit/paladen would be competitive against would be each other.

Conclusion: I'm all in favor of this mini-tournament on Sunday May 8th 2011. This tournament would happen in conjunction with Preseason Week #1, causing all the squads participating in the tournament to miss this 1st week of preseason while the rest of the squads participate normally according to the schedule.

Note: My decision is mine alone, and does not represent the decision of the rest of the Ops. Flared will release the final decision when he feels the time is right.

By time, they are talking about the fact that the original message from flared was that TWL Qualifications would end May 1st at 12:00AM (which was saturday night) instead of what was intended 12:00AM May 2nd (sunday night). He changed the zoner on friday to clarify this but it wasn't clarified on the TWL website or the forums.
Therefore this involves all 3 or 4 squads or whatever

Like i said Tanzu, it doesn't matter what circumstances surrounded the game. The only thing that matters is that the game was not played, nor was there a single kill. The points from that game should be removed from the record.

I'm only commenting because it has nothing to do with the appeal. If hit really thinks they could get more than 15-20 seconds against penetrate they are sadly mistaken. If paladen thinks they could get more than 15-20 seconds against dicE they are sadly mistaken.

Does anyone else find it absurdly hilarious that the season with THE WORST TWLB turnout (well, next season'll probably be worse), where qualifying would probably be EASIEST, we'd have such a retardedly retarded qualification issue come up?

Seriously, if I made a TWBD squad right now and played dice 25 times, I'd lose 25 games at around 2 points per game and still be at 950 rating, which would still qualify for TWLB.

how can u argue about a feed when last night 60 ppl in bd arena watched hit get fed twice, they even cancelled a bd with dice when they realized that dice wouldn't feed them

Pandora couldn't field 5 and requested a cancel and our caps decided that we should take the points, which i doubt is against the rules. All these basing squads don't want paladen in, but in other threads they claim to want wbs to try get into lb to increase competition. Zhou's hatred for paladen even worse, feeding hit late at night to pass us but then we beat dice so they feed again to screw sweet. Penetrate is probably worse squad to argue that paladen doesn't belong in lb , it seems everyone forgets that penetrate was in LD last year with a couple of wbs and went 0-10. No one argued that they didn't belong in, so stop throwing paladen in your arguement, we qualified and will field 8 every game. over

You can define the situation in any way you would like to. You were given a free win, from a game that was not played, durring TWL qualifications. That is a feed, especially when the game should have been canceled. They added that feature to the bots for a reason! DragonGuard was denied entry into TWLD 4/5 years ago due to this same type of situation. The appeal should not be based on the revised game time, rather the fact that Paladen was fed 43 points from a game that never took place, for whatever reason behind it. The 43 points should be retracted from Paladens rating at the time of qualification end, thus putting Paladen last in TWBD and outside TWLB qualifications. Penetrate actually had qualified legitimately for TWLD last year, so that situation is completely irrelevant in this circumstance. Paladen did not legitimately qualify for TWLB, due to the points fed to them by Pandora.

Really though, disoblige, paladen, hit, and sweet, all have below 900 ratings. The only squads these guys will be beating is each other, so what better way to start TWL than by having us beat each other in a qualifying mini-tourny!




and then give the LB title to whoever wins the tourny and call twlb over

Actually, I got nothing. I'm just musing about penetrate's first twlb appearance ever and how we (I say we, but obviously I didn't contribute anything) had to turn on hardcore mode the day before the deadline in order to win enough games to get into TWL.

Paladen only qualified because of the before mentioned game feed. If the points of that game were removed, as they should be, Paladen would be at 851 and ranked last on the ladder, behind hit and sweet, after the revised deadline was passed.

if the argument is about the time then there should be no tournament as paladen qualified way before 11: 59. there cud be a match between sweet and hit for last spot as those ARE THE ONLY 2 SQUADS THAT ARE INVOLVED WITH THE TIME ERROR.. Stop throwing paladen in ur argument just because you guys dont want us there.

there's nothing wrong with paladen in lb and i think u guys did qualify on may 1st 12:00 am, but we had won a game the night before and were ranked above you and thus should've had the spot as of may 1st.
