after discussing with the rest of the twl staff, we have decided that trouble and andy steel will be allowed to participate in twl for real but only in twlj. having joined prior to week 4, they will both be eligible to play beginning in round 5. if either players are added in a league other than twlj, the game will be forfeited.

the decision to let them play is based mostly on the fact that they showed up for week 1 of twlj and that the twl staff feel that they shouldn't punished for their squadmates absence. the decision to limit their participation to just twlj is based on the fact the players did not show any intention of leaving their twlj-only squad before soft lock was to be enabled, and the fact that we don't feel it's fair to "reward" these players by offering them eligiblity in leagues that they wouldn't have had the opportunity to participate in had ancients not dropped out of the league.

personally i feel this sets a bad precedent, although people don't care now about these people playing twl on real (since they're both non-impact players) people will have issues with it when it's actually a player who can make a difference.

If you have the drive to play weekly then talk to your captain and maybe he will promote you and you can keep your squad alive. (I personally remember helping Syne get through 1 year even though the captains were slacking.)

Basically what happened on Fierce a couple of seasons back and we ended up winning TWLD.

Regardless, changing the rules (in your favor) to allow other people to join just because their squad dissolved will not save this zone. If and when this game dies out it's going to happen on its own accord and something so meager as allowing people to "break" the rules in mid-league season won't change anything.

paul has been internet-less for the last few weeks, otherwise he would have been an op from the beginning. i asked him to op at the beginning of the season but knowing he wouldn't be active he declined. he knows how to op and he has experience, him and lf basically ran the show last year. now that his internet is back, so is his position on the twl staff.

Here let me get this straight..

You are arguing that if we don't let these players from ancients play in TWL this year that it is going to stifle the population of players who are willing to join smaller named squads with less known captains because it means if a squad dissolves that those players can't play and people won't want to risk it. And this in turn is going to cause the top few squads to get all of the players because people won't want to risk not playing TWL because they are playing for X new squad, so to fix this from happening, your idea is to have the active players from the squad that dissolved join one of the top squads that is already established. This of course would be.. instead of them being allowed to play twl for the squad that is taking Ancients place in TWL who is the type of squad you are worried about having players to play in TWL because of this situation.

The point is this 1) These players haven't done anything wrong other than being loyal to an old squad 2) By disallowing them to play in TWL it sets a precedent for seasons to come, the precedent is that if your squad dissolves too bad. Does a squad dissolve/resign from TWL pretty much every season, yes? So if you think your squad could be that squad, why would you be on that squad?

Edit: Another point, if you're one of these players what point is it in playing TW at all for you right now? That means fewer players actually playing the game... I don't need to go on there.

1) Ancients were in LJ. 2) If you really feel that squad doesn't have a chance to win it, what is your motive for saying its ridiculous to allow them to play on it? It's clearly not game-changing from your point of view. 3) If you join a squad and it dissolves for TWL and you have no choice but to not play TWL right now, why would you continue to play the game during TWL? I could go on and on, but why would we basically reduce the reasons people would want to play the game? Why wouldnt we include them in TWL. Your original point that it could be abused is moot, anything can be abused. I'm not saying free reign, I never actually said how this should be handled until now but clearly things like this should be dealt with just like TWL appeals where multiple TWL ops weigh in on each season's dissolved/resigned squads.
