Burn has good basers, will get more

    Dudgeon has good basers

Fierce recently got basers and will compete

Cobra just got Trasher, basers will follow him

Lego can compete but who knows to what level

Thunder will come back because ease is the biggest nerd and buys people through his paypal account for ss medals

There are over 50 free agents right now, TWL is slowly creeping up the date time meaning people will be logging in soon enough

It is all a waiting game, players will flip flop within these next few weeks.

Further thought...Keep it the way it is. Probably the best. Can't force a bunch of randoms to play with one another and call it TWLB.

No more difficult than with a draft structure, surely?

I resent the accusation that I'm merely attacking this idea because I'm part of a competitive squad. I'm attacking the idea cos it's messy and cos it doesn't feel anything like TWL.

I agree with the fundamental problem though - players are too apathetic to form a squad without some League Op doing it for them. I also agree with Eph when he says we should probably just cancel if it can't be done with some semblance of the original format in tact. With that said, there will probably be 4 contending squads by the time TWLB starts, and maybe a couple of valiant newbie ones. That's good enough. We shouldn't jump the gun before we've seen what Jamal & Ease do, as well as Lego, Cobra, Fierce, Burn and the Revenge/Penetrate players.
You come at the King, you best not miss.

This idea will not be taken seriously. People will not show for games and no one will care. Just leave it the way it is.

Realistically, you will see a small influx of people coming back last minute. This is how it was in the past and will happen again. With 6 teams enrolled in LB we can have a decent season.

Just please don't implement this draft crap...

Grab a piece of paper. Place a dot in the middle of it. Draw a small circle around the dot, and leave the rest open. The dot represents your knowledge. It's what you know. It is the limit of your mind's capacity. The circle around the dot is everything that you don't know - but you know that it exists. And the rest of the paper is everything that you didn't even know that you'd never know - that exists or has the potential to exist.

Its funny because a lot of the people listed on claus' pre built teams arent even on a qualified lb squad. They'll probably just join(are joining) squads around this time and will create a few competitive lines to beat dudgeon

you guys make us out to be like an unbeatable basing force, as dw said, we almost got btfo last year in finals. Don't even mention jav lol. Unlike Fierce, who can probably beat the current Ld squads 9/10 times in LD. How come there's no public outcry about LD being concentrated and stacked? They have like 10 reserve wbs who could easily start on other squads.

We have had the same people and same warbirds since day one of forming the squad. We were not even that good for a while...built chemistry.

Doing this will shaft those bottom squads that usually introduce a few new players to the TWLB scene as they probably won't get any playing time if you evenly distribute talent like this. Also this topic has been brought up a multiple times in the past, but forcing people into teams to try and create a more competitive environment will only have the reverse effect, its evident that many people keep coming back in TWLB because they want to win it all with a certain group of people as it means more to them. With the draft, people may not care/show up because they didn't get on the team they wanted, they don't like the captain or a person on the team, balancing these social dynamics would be too difficult, just like TWDT where there is usually a similar situation on a team every time.

“Force” players to do the right thing? If players would do the right thing then this would not be necessary, if the zone population was higher then this would not be necessary.

Players shouldn’t be blaming anyone other than themselves. This is not Turbs fault. This is not the fault of TW staff. It is a failure of some players to see that they need to keep TWL competitive but not stacking teams and bring along newer players. Some players are stubbornly clinging to the old TWL, not wanting to see change and unwilling to change their own behavior. This sucks for everyone.

But I have not yet seen a single good point on why the zone should ride this league into the ground. I think many posts have been based in selfish reasoning; “don’t do it because I don’t want to play that way” kind of thing. They ignore the fact that TWLB has declined over the last few years and only solution they offer is ‘just keep it the same’. They simply want it to remain the same. Obviously. We all want it to stay the same. But it isn’t.

There are some players who have tried to do the right thing. They are some players who kind of do the right thing (they mentor newer players a bit off-season, but when TWL starts they run back to stacked team). Unfortunately this has not been enough. So now the zone needs to make changes. Will players now step up and understand? Or will they take their little ships and go home? Will some of them be willing to support the zone and at least try to see if this will work? Or will they show their complete lack of empathy and remain selfish? Time will tell.

The only way I can see it is top players being offered a certain amount of real money to join a bottom tier basing squad (talking like 20 dollars as I think more would be just too greedy). You can only tempt/ convince them top players to join such squads because knowing these nerds... If they were forced to join a squad where they don't really know the players- they will refuse to play. Many oldies just care about winning and staying on only the top squads even if it meant that it's killing the league... Unfortunately you can't change that unless you sweet talk them out of it or limit the roster.

Just thought of a random idea: what would happen if players were told they have to play a certain amount of hours in pub before you're allowed to compete in twl? Would they do it? Would pub improve= more retention of newbies= increase in population in twd? I just feel the root of problem comes down to the lack of retention of new players in pub.

people will do whatever they have the most fun doing. if its no longer fun, people will probably just not play at all.

then again, some people may bitch about change then play anyway. space ships are serious business.

by the time twl actually rolls around, i also expect there to be about 4 pretty competitive squads.

Claus and Turb I'm usually up for the ideas you bring up, but you guys completely missed on this one.

Think twice before you implement this. Also think outside of twl/draft. This will further reduce the amount of twbds played since squads will no longer care about practicing as a team.

Leave the league the way it is. If it dies, then at least let it die naturally

TWLB, like the other leagues, has a rich history. Don't just take a shit on it. Give it respect

You are talking to Turban, the guy who is responsible for the failing launch of Steam and the zone dying. He didn't even attempt to accomplish anything so The_Block took over his mess and tried his best on what was given.

Turban has made poor decisions after poor decisions(besides the idea of the double elimination, that was new and creative to the playoff atmosphere). I rather have Undercut, Ricko, Heaven or even Tiny(don't let him host games, he will most likely mess up the scoreboard or tiles of maps or whatever) take full responsibility to lead the season, it is time for a change.

Spent a lot of time working on the issues and problems, and I'm 90% sure I've solved TWLB without a draft, and letting most people pick where they want to play, while maintaining balance.

I've ran it by a few people and they all liked the idea more than the current draft proposal, just waiting on Turban to wake so I can run it by him.

Expect a new post within 24 hours with a proposal that I think ultimately will be used for the league.
                                Stay tuned.
