well it's definitely not my idea. i believe someone posted it and said it's what some other zone's league uses as their standard.
basically, you set 2 different roster locks.
1) the first one freezes squadleaves. once that roster date hits, no one can leave their squad's roster. however, squads can still recruit players who aren't on any rosters.
2) the second freezes recruiting. that's when the rosters are set in stone for the rest of the season.
there's several good things about splitting the lock up. first, it prevents teams from being stuck in a shitty condition if they lose alot of people right around the roster lock because there's still a whole week of recruiting time to fill their roster with free agents/newbies. second, you have time to identify your needs and fill the holes in your squad without having to worry about rethinking your plans in case anyone left your squad. third, and this could be both good and bad.... but players can hold out to see how rosters look before choosing to apply for a team. it's pretty cut and dry, although it might increase the amount of attempted double-squadders in the league... fortunately that would be solved with the ideas proposed in the other thread.
