and here's an idea (which i've posted many times) to improve the current leagues format instead of drastically changing the whole system.
first off, allow only 12 teams in the leagues. it becomes more stable because none of the lower ranked squads (13 through 16) get a chance to make a 2 month run in TWD to qualify for TWL then drop out and dissolve after one of 2 weeks in their first and only TWL season after going 0-1 or 0-2. i mean, if you look at it realistically, the only top 12 squad in LD/LJ who dropped out last year was Egyptian. (hinder was not a top 12 squad when they took egyptians spot and changed their roster completely except for Yankee). You may also be thinking about Shriek here too, well... they had a history of dropping out of leagues but quite honestly, they would have made it the whole way this year if they had not been thrown out of the leagues simply because of the stupidity of one member.
secondly, extend the leagues to 11 weeks (regular season length). this allows each of the 12 teams to compete against every one of their opponents and gives every team an equal schedule... no complaints (like rapid this year) about scheduling and bullshit like that.
three, get rid of conferences. make it so the top 8 or however many teams (personally i think it should be 6, but whatever) make it into playoffs. with conferences, you always get a capable team missing playoffs in favour of a less capable team because in all 3 leagues, the conferences are unbalanced. this is a huge issue in my opinion because whether or not you believe that twl is supposed to be best of the best, (cus i know some people dont), i think we can all agree playoffs are supposed to be the best teams only... teams with the best records.
