with the fact there is very few javs that are truly worthy of being a jav in a league game, i am opposed to a max, simply becuase you should be able to play whatever lineup you want...

squads should be able to recruit and style their team whatever way they want

if your going to do that why not say
you have to play a lanc
you have to play a cloaker

a spider limit is bascially saying you have to play a jav, because very few WB's are good base birds, and useless on attack

so you are forcing teams to use a jav, that may not have a jav therefore you are giving a big advantage to the squads that have established base javs already

lots of squads have recruited and designed their lineup deliberately to not use a jav, so you are now crippling those squads and giving others an unfair advantage

Anyways.. you can look at it from a different side. It means squads get a challenge to find someone and train him as a good jav. And really if you are gonna look at how many really good javs, or wbs there are.. There are also very few really good spiders.. Maybe with a 4 spid limit a squad has to work on playing with a jav, and find a jav.. But now squad have a disatvantage against really strong cramming squads like spas.. Same thing basiscly.. The stronger squad is supposed to win. So if your squad has a disatvantage against a cram, or when they have to play a jav, it just means they arent strong enough to win. I just think the 4 spid max makes basing games more fun. If the only reason to base is having boring games in twl.. sure leave it with 5 spids. Once a squad with a reasonable cram, has a base.. They win.. its that simple.. But with a 4 spid max, the cram will be weaker.. and maybe we will get more flagroom fights.

contrary to your popular belief that everything in life is all about you, i hadnt even realized that you started the thread....i read the subject of the thread and give my opinion if i feel like it

why on earth should someone have to play a jav, if they dont like using a jav

why would a squad want to take the time to have to train an average jav to compete at a top level, if the squad's philosophy has been all along to not use a jav

you think its just me, but thats because you live this narrow minded world

when i joined melee, one of the first things poid said to me, and had it macroe'd for the squad

Melee doesnt use a jav.. -poid

some squads simply dont want to use one, why is that hard to understand?

I agree with you Boss. One of the great aspects of basing is the variety to choose ships. The more restrictions ... the less variety or POSSIBILITIES there are. Let teams play 2 terrs or 3 lancs or 2 weasels. Like I said in that long argument awhile back ... 5 spid cram ISN'T invincible. And like Boss said, if we have a 4 spid restriction ... that basically means 4 spid 1 jav lineup ... FOR ALL TEAMS (and possibly wb for playing against easier teams). How the heck is that variety / fun with that same lineup? At least right now we can play jav if we want or 5 spid. Also ... now we have laggy javs with laggy shots which can potentially kill off an entire team. So what do you want to go up against ... a laggy spid or a laggy jav? (I personally would go with the laggy spid to base against).

No one is forcing you to play cram.

I think basing is the easiest league - and most would agree. It's a league designed for people who can't aim but can "splatter" an area with shots in a spider. Granted this won't ever win you titles but it can turn you into a decent enough basing team. The only way to make basing harder would be to limit the spiders - because being 1 spider against someone is a hell of a lot harder than having two buddies with you and you just plastering the area.

It's no coincidence that javs in base games are usually the most laggy person on the team. Whether they jav because they lag, or they lag because they jav, I'm not sure.

Boss, im also sure if they limit spiders, and came public with it that u (melee) could somehow recruit a decent base jav or basebird, or 1 of ur current guys could step up and practice jav. Like Admin said its not all about the fancy shots, it is about the timing of ur shots, which if someone plays basejav non-stop for a few days/weeks they could be pretty good @ it.

Dude, anything to make the cram less effective, such as a spider limit, is way past cool in my book. Force some creativity with lineups and you'll see some new strategies develop. New strategies might just pump some life back into the still, lifeless lump of cow shit that basing has become.
