but when those squads who went 10-0 or somthing or even a mid-level squad in the league dies, or disbans after the season who do u think will be the squads stepping up and performing in a year or 2?

Dragonguard is a perfect example in DD, last season sure they won a few lost a few, manhy consider'd them very ez and no compatition. Now look @ this year, they are very strong and will proly make playoffs, or atleast have a good chance. And if they last for another season after this i imagine they will be even stronger.

Actually Esc, I'm not quite sure how many small leagues you've played in, but from my experience with Pro League (part of Premier) it sucks. If you have just the top 8 teams or whatever playing themselves over and over because they provide the very best competition, it really gets stale after a while and quite boring after a few seasons. Basically it's the exact same bunch of guys playing over and over, with squads scared to try new talent because there is enough old talent to go around.

With a bigger league, new players can pop up even in the so called 'bad' teams and show their stuff. As well you always have the possibility of other teams suddenly getting better and surprizing the hell out of everyone else. Finally in a zone with 600+ players on the weekends, why would you want to automatically limit the number of people who can participate in the league to a smaller number? Having more people in the top league = more people caring about it, and also = more people wanting to play in it who can't because they know they have a chance even if they aren't the best 10 players in the zone to start games. As for competition, that's what playoffs are for. In the end the best teams will win, but during the process a ton of people have fun.

i agree with you epi that its important to allow variety in twl, but you have to work with what you have and the fact is that the depth of squads that are atleast mediocre or better is 2-3 times larger in duel and jav than in basing.

#1 against #16 in duel is the best dueling squad vs a dueling squad that is better than 70% of duel squads in the zone. #1 squad against #16 squad in twlb is a matchup between the best and one of the worst few active basing squads in the zone. to get a similar talent spectrum to what TWLB has, TWLD would have to allow 32 teams in the league atleast. TWLB should have 10 teams and they should all play eachother once with no conference nonsense.

imo every well run zone provides 2 things for its players:

a place for newbies and casual players to compete, get better, etc.

a place for experienced/skilled players to face eachother in intense, competitive matches.

and the two shouldnt be mixed as is the case when you accept 80-90% of active squads (basically anyone who bases a few times and doesnt totally suck) into the league. thats when you find disoblige's euros having to sacrifice their saturday night to face a heated battle vs puma.

i like the idea of having the same 16 squads in all 3 leagues but it wouldn't work.

basing is just too different than jav or wb.

if you grouped jav/wb and said the same 16 squads get into those 2 leagues, then yes... much better idea. but basing can't be included cus the only basing squads which could hold their own in the other 2 leagues is -final-, pallies, disoblige and MAYBE whiterabbits.

spastic, mambo, incuria & rejected basers would basically be cut out of leagues cus they can't average top 16 across all 3 leagues.

again, i like the idea of the same 16 squads across all 3 leagues but and i truely think it should be part of season 8 so the basing squads can try to adjust and vice versa but i dont think it'd be appropriate for season 7.

i can't pretend i know about twlb before last season, so i won't refer to that, but based on last season there weren't that many crap squads imo.

brit squad yes, paladen til they dropped out, who else? i actually don't remember, but i don't think it was too much more. neither of those squads had to qualify, and rb's and whatever zeus' squad was called subbed in for them woulda solved it, there would have been interested.

honestly, there probably won't be a huge skill difference between squad #12 and squad #16.

diso, spastic, pallies, wr's, a-s, mambo, incuria, rb's, synd, final, melee, pirates, cripples, sk8, burning rose, grapevine

16 squads right there without me knowing a whole lot about the league. maybe they won't all be contenders, but they will show interest and put up a fight if they make it imo.

course squads dissolve and whatnot, but others rise up, i think it proves tw can support a 16 team league.

there are also more that could put up a good fight to rand, but off the top of ur head ur rite, if all those squads show interest in TWLB, they can probably be a very good oponent, like u said not all contenders, but atleast it wont be a big blowout each week. Also like u said last season yes, tehre were BS/NS/Cripz who were bad in TWLB, but even the witter'd cripples won 2 games and were close on a few, sure some they got blown out but they didnt reall care. BS/NS always faught to the end of the match as hard as they could. They arent new squads in the league those 3 were in leagues b4, so we know how they perform, thats why they must requalify. This season i am expecting none of them 3 to make TWLB, and u'll have some newer squads into basing step up and try the challenge, and some could prove worthy. U have Spores, and if LEGO tried for LB, im sure they could show a good lineup each week, DSB spiders are usualy very good.

hmm, true, i forgout about some of those squads cause theyre inactive in the ladder but you make a good point.

The problem lies in if some of those squads (grapevine, pirates, synd. etc) can win enough basing matches in qualification, since squads like Elenya usually base squads with little experiance in that area (no offense).

if we really wanna make it into TWLB we just have to play and win like 3 squads that are around 1000 points total.

realistically, it isn't THAT hard to get into the top 16 of TWBD if you know how to base even a little. no offense to basers.

sure, if we do get into TWLB, we'll be blown out by wr, -final, diso, mambo, spastic, pallies, etc... in real matches... but we can still get our name in the top 16 during qualifying.

personally, this is one of the reasons i prefer the jav league. you know all of the top 16 squads are contenders and can win vs any other squad or atleast make it a close game.

i really don't care about your squad dude, it's not a personal vendetta against it.

if twl were 16 squads in all 3 leagues i'm sure you'd find either ppl to wb/jav, learn to do it yourselves, merge with a wb/jav squad or just join one that can.

what would be cool is if TWL were one league, 3 different rounds. every time you play a squad you base for half an hour, play a jav match, then a duel match, best of 3 wins that game. that would be leet.

to clarify my idea, i more meant that 3 different leagues, but all 16 squads in all 3 leagues, and thus, 3 different standings. but i think that esc's would be just as interesting, or maybe a mix of both, play the same squad in all 3 leagues over each weekend, but 3 different rankings? would make schedualing easier i think?
