This is BS. Why am I a 7 in javs? I haven't started in javs since TWL season 6, since then I've subbed in in 1 TWLJ game and gotten 1 kill and 1 death (this was several seasons ago.) I hardly play TWJD but when I do I struggle to get a 1:1 ratio so I should be a 5 at best in javs.

And why am I a 9 in warbird? Top ten player? Not even close. Even an 8 (impact player) would be to high since I averaged 6 kills per round last TWL, so how much impact could i have had? I barely broke even last season (103-98) so I should be a 7 in warbird.

Someone needs to officially protest my ratings since I can't do it myself.

Personally I think you are a 9 that had an 8 season. You are one of the best warbirds left in this game, as in my experience, you are very difficult to kill. I know a lower rating means you will get to play more, but I personally agree with a 9. I will concur with your jav theory though. I am certainly no jav specialist but I know enough to realize that Static Burn is no dominating force in the yellow ship. I hereby move to make him a 6!

I don't know who did these ratings... but people like weak got 8 stars in WB while people like paska got 7.

Anyone that knows actual skill in WB would wonder what the deal is with this. Weak is a decent player... a decent 7... but he isn't an impact player by any stretch of the word. He is a decent 10 kill guy in any lineup though.

Skill wise... paska is a lot better.

I won't even get involved with geio... another 8 star. If you are basing this on TWL well... no comment. If you are basing on skill, I can see it slightly.

There are 3 ppl I have received a lot of complaints about, 2 are highlighted here.

Geio given an 8: From the ratings and justifications I have received so far, it is largely based on the fact that he was the statistically 2nd best player in TWDTD last season and mvp'd the finals. Past TWDT performance is taken into account in some regards.

Paska's rating: There were concerns of inactivity from many. Although I have received a few ratings as of late that have probably pushed him to an 8

JAMAL: People are whining because he doesn't really play much anymore and he hasn't played much LD or LJ. While this is all true, he statistically had the 3rd best DTD season last season, by far the top basing season and the 6th best DTJ k:d ratio. I, personally, and others seem to believe that warrants some recognition.

I will inform you of other complaints when I release the final ratings and note revisions that were made.

Statistics are too relative, a good squad like top5squad can have better k:d ratios because they win stuff when players from other squads will have worse because they get dominated.

On the other hand, there were alot of 9* players last season that were certainly.... not impressive when it came to playoffs.

These rating systems are usually terrible since people can't get it right, there are too many differing opinions on how to judge one players ability to play. For example: Player A focuses more on the ability to stay alive and put up a solid 2:1 ratio, while Player B believes a better player is someone who sacrifices himself, pushing/dodging for a 1:1 score. And then we always have Player C who judge the player by scores and nothing else.

With that said; the easy way to do this is to simply take the lineups from last TWL/TWDT playoffs and give alot of those guys an 8, then discuss them and argue why one should be 7 or 9 or 10. (usually by saying: this player definitely had an impact in getting his squad to playoffs, but he sucked in playoffs, so let's give him an 8.) etc

edit: this doesn't take into account players who can possibly be an 8 or even 9 that were on squads that missed playoffs, so there needs to be further discussions about those too.

That's just how I would do it though. You are free to disagree, just as I disagree with many ratings. I just hope the 9* wbs this season won't disappoint me too much this season too =)

I agree with this statement. I dunno what Jones rated anyone, but I like the way he thinks anyway. Personally, at this point, I could care less what I'm rated, but I can usually judge a players skill level when I've played with them or against them long enough. I'm sure most can.

I do think some things are scewed though. Some people really do bad vs players like Racka... and some really do bad vs players like Raspi. They are completely opposite types of players, and yet some are amazing vs one and terrible vs the other.. so ratings are affected differently based on that. Either way, both are very good players in the style that they play.

Also, I agree with the whole statement based on that some people were on a really really good wardbird team... meaning their entire job is easier. They will have far better rating playing with that team than with a team that was just bad. You can have the best player in the game play on a team, and yet if he is with a bunch of bad players, he might not do so well. However, you can take a mediocre player who averages 8-10 on a bad team and put them on a good one, and they will all of a sudden hit 12-15 kills every game based on that. It upgrades their level of play, because they are having to do far less.

The ones that deserve a 9 or 10 star rating are ones that can and will carry a team with a bunch of nobodies, compared to someone that will do pretty bad with them. Anyone can do well with a decent team around them though.

All I can say is that I'm the only warbird to ever beat a squad 1v4 and win, not only the one time but I've done it four times in all. Maybe you can add that in your stats. Oh also, I was a 10 in twdtd last season and did a really good job, I also know I mvpd the twdtj finals and did good in twdtb also. It would be good if you could pull up my twtd stats from last season blackmage.
That being said, recently my desktop computer of 11 years has packed in, so scrap all the stats you've got about me and give me a 6/6/6. I'm currently playing on 800x600 res, so it would be unfair if you guys rated me on when I played on my desktop.

                      My response to this:
                      1) Read the 1st post and you will realize that these are beta ratings and will be changing. These were released to tease and perk up interest in the league.

                      2) if you read one of my replies it says the following: last season blackmage did a graph of player production in respective leagues compared to assigned rating (it was actually quite impressive) and we found that the ratings were for the most part spot on. don't go patronizing a system that clearly works.

also, vys, for once, has the right idea. you may view it as a slap in the face to your ego to be below a 7; however, it is actually the most beneficial position to be in. you have no restrictions on playing. i would gladly hand you fuks some of my points if i could so that i could be a 6/6/6/18.

i do enjoy, listen to, and read all criticisms; but please read the thread and have your facts straight first.

I concur with Moving Burnt's Jav rating to a six, seems like an attempt just to boost his overall rating to me, which is unfair to him, because when I originally saw he was a 7 that surprised me as well.

Some other revisions I would make:

Move draft from 6 to 7 in javelin. he's definitely worth a 7 in jav, and it will give his team an unfair advantage if the league is run like last season and you have to play a 6 star player in each team. Draft would wipe the floor with most other 6 star javs.

I'd also recommend moving I.D from 5 to 7 in Jav or at least a 6. If you look at the numbers she has been dropping in TWD recently and just overall skill level since she has improved, I'd easily say she could be a twlj starter over some of the starters from the mid-lower end teams from last season.

I just want to say that first off, the current ratings that are up shouldn't even be worth commenting about. A partial list of a partially compiled rating system is just a tease, as Humid said.

Secondly, ratings really don't matter for anyone except the captains (who have to stay under the * cap, and who might not know the relative talent levels of all the players). The only exception to this is whether you are personally above 6 or 6 and below.

Thirdly, remember that if you are underrated, that means you are a better value to your squad since you cost less * points relative to your skill ability. As long as you know a captain will draft/sign you, you should want to be underrated. You should especially want to be rated 6* or lower in a league or two.

Fourthly, the ratings will be off. Especially by +/- 1. But it should even out over a squad. Additionally, the ratings really only matter once a squad approaches the max * limit. For example, if a squad signs 30 players and only has (somehow) 430 * used, each player could be given an extra 1* in each league and the squad would still be under the cap and so it wouldn't affect anything at all gameplay wise (except perhaps 6* changes).

KK, its subjective so last year's TWL is probably being taken into account yes.

As to Burnt's jav rating...thats probably psychologically inflated due to his squad winning both the last TWDT-J and TWLJ league titles...even though he hasn't played much at all for either of those.

Jones, are you even playing in this TWDT?

Why would I change my opinion about a rating system just by re-reading some post? Do you really think that once the ratings are out of the beta stage I would be satisfied? No. I judge players by playing against and with them.

You may have whatever advanced formula or something planned out on how these ratings will be calculated, but the fact still remains: People have different opinions on how they determine if a player is good or not. I used last season as an example since people who were supposedly 9* or even higher weren't even good come TWL/TWDT playoffs. See how my rating system worked there?

My point with these two last posts is to take into consideration how you determine someones ability to play. I myself have never really cared about K/D or elim-ratings since, well, since my CRT monitor died 4 years ago. Usually captains of top squads can do this right. Perhaps you should have some of them giving you help?

Top captains and players are helping me.

People severely misinterpret how these ratings are done, and it bugs me. Quite honestly all that matters in the ratings is this: are you above 6 or not? How is above 6 determined, being a TWL starter or showing amazing skill in previous TWDTs. The rest is just cost severity. I get a shit ton of opinions and waste hours upon hours of my time consolidating them into 1 set of ratings that at least statistically proves very accurate. What else do I have to go on? Subjective assessment of "intangibles"? I am attempting to create a fairly objective system of rating that minimizes the influence of personal opinion and "intangibles". Whether you agree with the rating criteria and my attempts to do this is an entirely separate issue. I just don't want 20 sets of ratings based on people's likes and dislikes, there needs to be at least a rough objective basis of analysis, and that very well may lead to some people with inflated ratings and others underrated. However, it is then the cap's job to find those and abuse them to no end and make me look like a fool. Thus far, though, it has yet to happen.
