Power vs. Gladiator
The first match of the week was truly the most bizarre of the bunch. How the fuck did this happen in 2019? The high stars shit the bed and were slapped upside the head by 6* staff members. We find ourselves in a new era.
Breakout 6* superstar Wicket666 (12-9) shattered my lineup cap by achieving more than 10 kills with an impressive MVP. LaSenza (10-4) and beam's (9-9) clutch time heroics weren't necessary this game, as they had a healthy dose of support from veteran bram (7-5). But this was an entire team effort, and the biggest contribution came from the debut of the ancient Elusive veteran, Doughnut (11-5), showing no rust and performing like one of the top shelf 8* warbirds in the game, which he is.
The short game time of 9:34, and Power not exactly being an aggressive team, tells me that Gladiator began the game flat and lost some heart at some point in the game. 5v5 matches, especially in the cheat res era, shouldn't be finished in under 10 minutes. Even with a slow start, a veteran team should be able grind through a slump and regain their ground against a midrange dominant team like Power. But Gladiator's highest rated players, Tripin (5-10) and Lockdown (4-10), failed to find their footing at any point, vastly under performing, and the rest of the team collapsed alongside them. Spezza adding himself may have been the better move (I hate hindsight too, spezz.) Morph (11-10), the newest 3-league star in the game, continued his pace of impressive consistency. But he needed about 250% more accuracy to make this close. It wasn't.
HOT: Wicket666 (12-9), Doughnut (11-5)
NOT: Lockdown (4-10), Tripin (5-10)

Silence vs. Thunder
The biggest surprise team in warbird continued their head-scratching run, as Commodo and Turban continue to masquerade as 10* warbirds in javelin's clothing. Ricko and Geio provided veteran warbird stability, and daeva continues to impress as a potential star in the near future. This was a beatdown.
Ease, the 92 year old cynical elitest, continued his impressive streak of not reading the new rules and lineup caps for the 3rd week in a row. As a result, Thunder has struggled to figure out a stable lineup (HE HAS SEVERAL BROKEN LINEUPS), and his team was once again handed the punishing returns. Engineers (2-10) struggled mightily to regain the touch that won him back-to-back TWLD titles, and only Vys (9-10) and Ogron (10-10) finished the game with respectable scores.
HOT: Commodo (13-8), turban (12-5)
NOT: Ease, Engineers (2-10)

Legio XI vs Terrorist
The two heavyweight warbird teams clashed for the first time, in what many expected to be a nail biter. Unfortunately for me, reality did not meet the expectation. Not even halfway.
Last week, I debuted my 8*s lineup and they proceeded to dust the field in a pair of 50-30 wins. My team looked unstoppable, but I knew Terrorist would be a different test. With my new advanced artillery, Pineapple Express, finally eligible for warfare, I confidently added my 8*s and expected them to hold their phalanx against the best rusher in the game.
Around 1:32 of the match, my confidence quickly transformed into horror as RaCka (14-10, 9 R1 kills, NINE R1 KILLS) continued to run away with the WB kill race, blitzkrieging my team along with dw, Ra (12-6(!)), and Ardour. Wirah flashed the veteran IQ by adding a quality 7-3, and their teamwork had us in turmoil from the start of the battle.
Pineapple Express, supposed to be working in unison with the 11th Legion, ignored the game plan and began launching Paladen branded arrows from R6 with no Alextron to cover for him. My team, mostly getting TK'd from the "SUB PINEAPPLE" spam, were gangraped one by one in the mountainside. Pineapple would eventually sympathize with their pain, as I refused to sub him out, following Caesar's orders. He ended the match, and his Roman citizenship, with a fitting beheading at the hands of Ardour. I'll pretend this never happened.
HOT: RaCka (14-10), Ra (12-6)
NOT: Pineapple Express (3-10)
