I agree with Riv/Skat to some extent, these ratings are getting pretty ridiculous. The ratio of people increasing in rating vs. decreasing is completely insane. Unless we're making the cap like 70* these ratings should be normalized, and some form of percentages should be used to dictate how many 10*, 9.5*, etc., that there are.

It is getting very tiresome that your only shot to win a league is if you happen to draft that underrated EG player, and it doesn't look like there are any of those anymore so we're going to have to get pubbers in these games by the looks of it to fit in the cap.

My opinion is that these ratings will have a high impact to the season: impacting the way captains draft and select playtime for players in 3 leagues throughout the 8-10 Sundays of TWDT.

If we have folks who are willing (based off what I've read: we do), I would appreciate an additional few hours towards improving these ratings: the process & the result.

Biggest patterns i see:[LIST=1][*]High inaccuracy in players who are rated 6-7.5[*]Difference in the % of high stars (and overall * slots) in each league[*]Over-reliance on past seasons ratings (which many have publically called unreliable & inaccurate)[/LIST]Recommended ways to address this[LIST][*]Recruit more & varied volunteers to rate players[*]Volunteers rate 1 league, no more[*]Have a range of the % of each * category we're looking for (7% 10*, 12% 9.5*, etc)[*]Split the process: the first sit down, we're spending time on rating players 6-7.5. The second sit down: players rated 8-10[/LIST]

Lastly, for future seasons, it wud b gr8 if we had an easy to access website that provides volunteers (& any player) with the ability to see mmr, TWDT, TWL and past TWD stats (k:d is one of many indicators of quality of gameplay).

Why aprix who has combined for 4 dt-b games in the last 3 seasons and was inactive, got bumped UP in base?

ekko went played a single game at 7* in wb, and previous season went 26-40. Got bumped up what?

Everyone knows ratings are inflated and need to be brought down, yet we continue to just bump everyone up anyways.

I performed a similar analysis prior to the latest round of additions and you are correct, the average rating for the top X number of players in each division was about a star lower for javelin than warbird. That's a result of our rating system being majority comparisons to other players. I'm far from the expert on javelin, but it didnt seem like our tiers are necessarily incorrect within that top X players. Rather, it felt like we were missing some of the highest rated players, skewing those results down.

From there, the decision to leave star caps where they're at was primarily for convenience for bot dev, the ops and the caps and for protection against late signups creating imbalance later on.

I don't really see how this was any different last season? TWDTD and TWDTJ was won (TWDTB lost in finals) by adding Best and Vys (10*s) together with some underrated 6*s. Viop actually traded away a couple 9/9.5*s for more badly rated 6* and 7*s to make the lineups work.

The easy solution that I saw was something like Turban point out in the forum discussion we had after that season (all ideas of which apparently were just ignored entirely). His idea was something like a bracket system, where each team can play a maximum of one 10*, one 9*, etc, with 7* to 8* being the largest allowed group (where most of the playerbase is anyway). Seems like it was a good idea, but apparently Ops decided to run it back with the exact same format as always and just hope for the best. They've tried nothing and are all out of ideas.

Well seeing as it literally says three columns over that his jav rating needs to be adjusted, and rage was listening in as we said we needed to take another look at jav ratings, I figured everyone here understood the situation, but it looks like I overestimated someone (and it wasn't aggi).
