Can't wait for when we can do leagues on Friday/Saturday's. Nights would be even better! This all day Sunday shit is so fucking dumb if you have a family or watch American sports or both. I know a lot here don't (have families) or are in Europe where it's like late Sunday night (most ideal playtime ofc) so it will probably never happen. I miss this game but realize the leagues will probably always be ran at whack ass times for TW. Least Hockey leagues, EG leagues, ect. were ran on sensible days/times. Only TW's are retarded af for some reason.

The way it would happen is if you pulled a report of countries for each of the TWL players (and do it for TWDT players too while ur there) and it showed a low percentage of EU players.

Last time I did it it was 80% US/CAN and 20% UK/EU, or near enough to that, but that was based on TWD activity which isn't really the same thing, and it was years ago.

Maybe someone with database access could extract a spreadsheet of player names and countries, so any pleb with excel can analyse it?

While I greatly enjoy drafting formats, i likewise feel like it might get a bit stale after 3 drafts already. I had fun playing on Juice last TWL and wouldn't mind having another go at it, and TWLB comes with special bragging rights

EG had always leagues at similar timeslots as TW, which for long time prevented players playing in both zone leagues simultaneously.
Also as Euro and having 7am wake up on Monday, playing some game after midnight on Sunday is no way some sort privilege. Its compromise time where majority of players can still show up. Not ideal for either side, but doable.

Agreed with you HK, if it's hosted May-June I wouldn't be able to play in it along with a handful of other players (which is fine if that's what's best for the zone, I just couldn't play or host).

My ideal league schedule for the remainder of 2022 would be to have some type of mix of warbird, javelin, basing cup type of league May-Julyish then depending when that finishes have one more TWDT for the year, and then finish off 2022 with TWL around September - November.

We could easily space out those leagues and not feel burnt out while still getting a healthy TWL in for the year.

Looks like everyone has agreed to getting rid of the basing league and just do wbs and javs

                    -small rosters
                    -short season
-could be in bed by 8.30pm

Why not run Warbird Cup, Jav Cup, and Basing Cup with hybrid roster rules next, then? We’ve been talking about starting with a core of 3-4 people then drafting the rest for years.

Cups in May, TWL in September, TWDT in November, then another TWDT in February. (Alternatively, you could also do TWDT in September and TWL in November.)

The reality is hybrid TWL is never going to happen (and shouldn’t). Ditto TWDT. One is a pure premier league, the other is a pure draft, and they have a clear function and associated prestige.

Cup is the perfect place to let friends and TWL teammates start together, then draft the rest of the team, making it a mix between TWL and TWDT. The people who really want to play together can, and those who want 8 teams who can win instead of 4-5 contenders and 3-4 non-contenders get their wish, too. It’s win-win.

It would be something fresh, new, and implementing an idea many of us have been pushing for years.

Its time for TWL..but TWDT is more fun .

I'd be more willing to unretire for TWDT though. It's been years for me and I'd like the variety of vets and newbies mixed into one team

I hope everyone is doing well. I miss you guys . Havent JD'd since probably early 2016 i think.....

Playing with newbs in the lineup is actually cancer.
Run a quick summer league for all 8.5*s and less, follow it with TWL.
Let some randos throw up big numbers.

So after a week of discussion it would seem we're basically back where we started. TWL should be run next but it's going to ding activity and a handful of should-be-playing people won't be in. You could probably get enough signups for another season of TWDT but I would hazard to guess that there are a decent amount of players that will take the season off (summer plus losing some players because you're running seasons back-to-back).

TWL is only going to run once this year and has traditionally been a fall/winter thing as the summer is our dead season. In 2022, leagues drive our population more than they used to so I have no doubt you could run a successful TWL. I do think, though, that you'll have more success and more competition in the winter.

I think we should do a hybrid TWD -> Playoff league and then reassess. Basically just reset the ladder and say on X date TWD locks and the ladders are created based on rankings. Playoffs follow. Yes we'll have to do something about borrows. Yes players can squadhop. The point would be just to make a semi-competitive, low-stakes league that would give people a reason to take games seriously while also allowing them to choose who they play with.

either run a TWL now or do some fuck-around leagues until about july/august and run TWL then? Then gear up for a TWDT draft in late september?

regardless, i would suggest trying to put a schedule together that gets a TWDT finished around mid december. I would put a TWL in there in the timeframe that maximises activity. That gives about 6 months starting from now to run a TWL plus whatever bonus leagues.

seems like a starting point to forming a timeline IMO. I don't see having either TWL or TWDT bridging over the christmas/new year holidays going well, so the aim would be to complete that last league before mid december.
