Martha Stewart is the suburban housewives' role model. I think she used to have stuff like cooking shows and housewives magazine (interior decoration, etc). Basically imagine two housewives saying, "Your house is so clean and beautiful and look at these cakes you baked. You're such a Martha Stewart."
That's why Martha going to jail for something about insider trading (she acted on a stock a tip that she shouldn't have) is so ironic and why it's such "big" news. Although I think it's months old news. Or is the sentencing (5 months) the news?
