Well, it wasn't "originally" aired on Fox News. They just picked up on the results of the survey and turned it into a much larger issue.

One minor note, we do get one canadian station.. CBC I think it is... my wife watches their olympic coverage because she's from your god-foresaken nation.

Is that why Canada has been rated so high in quality of life by the UN for so many years.

Yeah, your medical coverage where you can't just go to the doctor you need, you have to get refered there by your general practitioner first. You know where all the best doctors in canada go? to the united states. That's right... because htey make more money.. our health care is expensive, but I'll take that over having the leftover doctors any day.. And quality of life is great, near the border.. you travel too far north and it's barren wasteland. New weapons? when? the 70's? You guys just get some of those new B-52 bombers everyone's been talking about?

First off, it was a joke.

You were so anxious to defend your country that you didn't even really read the post, in which, I meant to suggest (jokingly) that canada had no new weapons to test, which is why they don't (test them).

And actually it's true that a lot of canadians that want to be doctors move to the states because that's where the money is. Don't tell me I'm wrong, I know three of them, and I married one of them, and they can tell you everything that's wrong with the canadian health system. Ask any doctor, the states have better care, but not everyone has coverage, and it's very expensive.

but the bottom line, and the whole point I was making (not very well, I guess) is that nobody hates canada. People make jokes about canada, and canadians (like yourself) don't seem to like jokes about their country. Canada is like the puppy dog to the north, you dress it up in funny hats and laugh at it, but then you give it a hug and let it lick your face.

I think hating America and hating America's policies, and hating George Bush's/the Republican Party's policies, and thinking the Iraq war was a mistake are very different things.

The problem with many polls is that they are politically motivated, and as such don't give so many options. When you're forced to choose between what you may see as a 'yes I love everything America is about' to a 'no I don't love everything America is about' then under that perspective people will choose accordingly.

I don't think Canadians seriously hate Americans, as evident by simply observing the number of squads in TW that have both on them and get along fine, and are friends. As well I don't think people in the world hate everything America is about, as easily evident by the number of people who play Subspace (an American created game, hosted on American servers). But people do disagree with various policies of the American government, esepcially the current one.

The Iraqi war was a huge mistake for so many reasons that I won't even bother going into here except to say that I saw a nice editorial cartoon the other day in the New York Times. It featured a large bar graph showing how if they spent the $160 billion they spent in Iraq to other military/terrorism needs, basically every single agency would have exactly the amount that they requested, security around the entire country would be vastly improved, foreign aid improved, instuitions promoting democracy around the world improved, and the army could have 40,000 more troops, more special forces, and Afghanistan would have a full allotment of troops and every single dollar they requested to rebuild their country (instead of being $10 billion short).
