I watched this program last night where they take about 20 so called "bad lads" because they've had run-ins with the law and put them through 1950's style national service to try and reform them (cue the 5 or so people who use these forums and who are desperate to prove they're British too by saying THE PROGRAM'S CALLED BAD LAD'S ARMY). Anyway, on this program they call the punishments "beastings" and one of these beasting is called "bastards", where you have to do squat thrusts (I think they're called squat thrusts, its been a long time since I done my GCSE's) where you start squatting down, and you throw yourself up in the air and do a star jump, before landing in a squat again. However with bastards you have to shout BASTARD!!! when you're at the top of your jump. So they got the whole platoon to do 20 bastards and there was 20 or so guys jumping up and down shouting BASTARD!!! at each other. These should be compulsary in all forms of education

not far away from it though, the WR in marathon is only like 10 minutes slower than that of man (compared to over 2 hours a couple of decades ago).

                  army, nuff said..

but a typical "workout/conditioning" day looks like this.

wake up, run 8km, muscle conditioning circle, (jumping jacks, crunches, pushups etc etc for about an hour), stägä jumppa (similiar shit, but with an assault rifle in hand), stretches, football for 1-2hours, followed by a 4-8km jog + stretches.

fun fun. (my poor SS coutch potato body really loves it)

thats not to mention "normal" days which consist of crawling/running around in the forest from 8:00-21:00, thats not fun either with 30kg on your back.

but hey, im getting in shape, so atleast its working.

I can still run, but most of the times I hit a easy double, HR, or strike out.

                          Wrestling

                          2 hours of hard conditioning.

Start the practice off with running for 5 mins around the mat. Then, drop down and do 50 sit ups, 50 push ups, 50 v ups, 25 6 count push ups, then 10 8 counts, then 10 clappers, then your basic jumping over people legs for 5 minutes, then spinning on a persons back for 5 mins (split between the 2 people, 2 1/2 mins each, same with jump overs), then you start to learn techniques for 15 mins, then go all out in wrestling groups (rotational) for 20-25 minutes, then you do a cougar drill, 3 2 minute rounds of nonstop endurance (push ups/sit ups/sprawls/v ups/side sits/mountain crawlers/jogging high knees in place) with an extra round for over time depending on the coach. Then you do iron man down or some shit which is 30 second all out rounds in groups of 4 so you get only one 30 second break per each "round" for 25 mins. And nonstop shit that goes on...then another cougar drill followed by either rotational down or takedowns for another 20+ mins. Then you end practice with 100 push ups/100 sit ups and 5 mins of jump overs and spins.

Come in late, your staying after practice doing shit that you'd rather drink piss instead of doing.

No time for water breaks, you get one bottle for the whole practice unless you want to piss off the coach and do extra drilling. Bathroom is limited too.

Edit: Monday thru Fridays...only holiday exceptions are thanksgiving day (not weekend), and christmas day (with a 1 week break).

The tournaments and actual wrestling meets are crazy too.

I hope all you people think you are strong and macho when you brag about your conditioning. You will amount to nothing in 60 years and realize its not worth it.

It is worth it. You have 60 years of a fit body, if not longer. Anyway training can be fun, and aparently the body produces some hormones or w/e, while training, which make you feel good.

( sorry sounds wierd & pathetic but its true, i just don't know how to say it in english. )
