Firstly i am a history buff....my uncle is a history teacher....and he got me into it...especially WW2...i know a lot about it...but i dont know about a battle which took place in December of 1944 ( i believe it started on the 15th or 16th but dont quote me on that)...In which Hitler launched a last ditch effort against the Americans, Particularly the 101st Airborne Infantry Division..They then pushed a hole into the very thin american lines...causing a bulge shape...IE Battle of the Bulge...The German Infantry defeated i believe 3 American Divisions....before reinforcements eventually came...IE Patton's Army....pushing the German's out of the Ardennes Forest...and eventually past the Rhine river....where the Germans would stake their final battle of the war...in the defense of Berlin against the Soviets...eventually the two successors (Americans and Russians) met in Berlin and celebrated Hitler's suicide...As far as the planning for Operation Overlord it was planned primarily by two men (General George Montgomery- British, and General Dwight David Eisenhower- American) So while the Americans dont deserve full credit...partial credit should be given...Now as far as Barbossa....yeah it weakened the German Army...but it did not break their back....Hitler as well as his top Generals (Most in favor was Rohmell...i never spell his name right...but the desert fox) warned hitler of the American invasion and the effect it would have on German land ownership....if the Americans took france their was no Channel left to protect Germany...and the effects on the solider's and the countries Morale would be devaestating (mostly because these new lands aquired by hitler were already being taken away)....hence the fact that hitler fortified the Atlantic Sea wall....making D-day such a tough operation....Now i understand that the british invaded Gold and Juno....and the Canadians Sword...but the Americans took the brunt of the beating...Invading the most heavily fortified areas....and if ure gonna argue that then ure the one that doesnt have his facts straight....Now as for my other point...lets not forget that the Americans won half of the War on their own (except for the five days the Soviets decided to "declare" war on Japan)...That feat has a little bit to be said for it....Bomb or no bomb...And as far as saying Russia had it the hardest because they lost the most ppl....thats because their battle tactics were just stupid...Sending half of ure men to battle with inadequete weapons, supplies, and clothing....of course ure going to lose a lot of men....but if u chose not to read this oh well....just please dont assume my ignorance on the matter

Omaha was tough cause they landed on the wrong beach. And they thought they wouldn't need much tank support at all so, they didn't have as much firepower and were mainly infantry.

To Mr. History buff. I don't doubt you know some stuff about the 2nd world war and you've probably watched Band of Brothers hundreds of times. But, sorry to say, the fight for Russia did break the Germans backs. For many reasons, the main one being the supplies, and the second was it was the first failure of the blitzkrieg and showed that it wasn't unbeatable and there were strategies to defend against it.

The Americans were a huge part in defeating the Germans and I have so much respect for their veterans and the people who lost their lives making sure I was free. But it is this stupid american persona of, "we saved your asses in WWII" just pisses me off. For one thing, you didn't save shit. Your ancestors were a part of a worl collaboration to stop an empire which threatened the whole world. And please stop using 'ellipses' (....) it gets very annoying.
