America made a large contribution, Canada helped, Britain, although the Russians probably made the biggest contribution, especially by burning down their own towns and constantly retreating, killing off the germans with their winter and lack of proper clothing, and they suffered the greatest soldier casualties.
It should also be noted that the US jumped into the war 2 years late, and only because Japan was dumb enough to attack Pearl Habour. And the bombs that made Japan surrender were made largely due to german scientist defectors who really made the manhatten project possible.
While nothing justifies the horrible terrors of Al Quaeda, let's not forget that Osama praised the US and were allies in the 80's until the US invaded what he called the holy land or whatever (Saudi Arabia) with like 80000 troops and tanks and shit (or something to that effect).
The CIA and US military's track record is both decorated with great acts of courage and defense of freedom, and tainted with horrible coup's and instating US friendly dictatorships and such.
There is no single element to blame, the world is not black and white, america is not evil nor is it a saint. However, it's my opinion that the US has done more good for the world in its history than it has bad, which is far more than I can say for any Islamic state.

You don't seem to understand. Osama is not an afghan, he and his family is from Saudi-Arabia.
"His militancy is traced back to the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Bin Laden's avowed goal from that time is to remove Western "infidels" from Muslim countries - the Russians from Afghanistan, the American military from Saudi Arabia and other points in the Gulf - the downfall of many government of Muslim states, and for the destruction of the United States and its allies.
Bin Laden is the son of the Yemeni-born owner of a leading Saudi construction company. Born into great wealth, he is believed to have inherited as much as $300 million when his father died in the 1960's. From 1979, bin Laden began raising money for the Mujahadeen forces fighting the Soviets in Afghanistan, and gradually became more and more affiliated with Egyptian Islamic extremist groups, such as Egyptian Islamic Jihad. From the mid-1980's bin Laden began to establish training camps in Afghanistan, initially for the war in Afghanistan, but later to fight against other targets worldwide. He has attracted thousands of recruits from Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Egypt, Yemen, Pakistan and Sudan.
Reportedly, bin Laden's anti-Americanism intensified during the Gulf War, when U.S. troops were stationed in Saudi Arabia. According to The New York Times: "The presence of American soldiers in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad and the home of the two holiest Muslim shrines, enraged Mr. bin Laden and other Arab militants." He and his associates also blamed the U.S. support for Israel as anti-Islam."
"August 1996 - Bin Laden issued a Declaration of jihad, holy war, entitled: "Message from Osama bin Laden to his Muslim Brothers in the Whole World and Especially in the Arabian Peninsula: Declaration of Jihad Against the Americans Occupying the Land of the Two Holy Mosques; Expel the Heretics from the Arabian Peninsula." "

1. first off the US in it's "isolationist" policy ducked out the first 3 years of ww2 basically the nazies take all of europe (except mayby britan.) The US was busy making $ selling arms and supplies.
2. When it became aparent that the nazies were going to over-run the soviets, and they were running out of $/rubles to buy resupply, and the nazi secret weapons dept (atomic bomb, synthetic petrol, jet fighter/bomber, icbm...) were a decade ahead of the US (our atomic program was basically pointing at the geiger counter needle display when near uranium!) the US had no choice but to enter the war in '43.
3. If the nazies had not purged the jew physicist and scientist from their programs they would have had the bomb by '41.
4. Alot of citizens in other countries get taxed 50 to 75%. US citizens get taxed on earnings, taxed when it is spent, taxed as it is held, and taxed at double & triple when one dies and tries to pass already taxed holdings to children. In contrast corporations shield alot of international earnings by having those branches outside the US and beyond the ability of the gov't to tax those holdings. If you checked the $ the gov't works it's budget from, citizen taxes account for 3/4 of that revenue, yet the corporation profits are 6 to 8X the combined earnings of the citizens... how does that balance citizens making 1/6 of what corperations make pay 3/4 of the gov't budget, while corperations making 6X what citizens earn only pay 1/4 of the gov't budget (! obviously the taxing for corporations is not based on the total amount earned!)... i guess all those company lobiest/lawyers do have some influence on the gov't legislators that pass the laws that determine who and how much they get taxed!
5. As much as i dislike pres bush, at least one can see what his views are and he is somewhat consistent in policy. In contrast kery seems to be totally moved/influenced by the moment. Kery will support one popular position at one moment and in the next moment just as commitedly support its opposite position. ?How is that dependable or justify puting that person in the position to set international policy? It is the fault of the democratic party for not presenting a candidate worth voting for and presenting a VALID alternative to pres bush, but then again is there that much diference in the powers behind either democrats or republicans, those corperate leaders with generations of 'old$.'
6. At this point i would more likely vote for Ms Clinton for prez & her husband as VP. Things were prety good when the Clintons were in charge, except how pres Clinton covered up the area51 acountability & not legalizing refer.

And the soviet invading afghanistan has nothing to do with Osama hating america. It merely was the thing that made him a soldier who wanted to protect islam. According to himself, he should have died in the battles in 1979, and he is now living on "over-time" granted to him by Allah to protect muslim countries. I'm not really sure if this is exact information but it goes somewhat like that.5: Da1andonly> !ban epinephrine

I can't wait to hear some shitty Republican excuses if Bush wins and starts WW3. " How were we supposed to know?" " It's all for the good of stopping terrorism" " blah blah blah "My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.
