Seems like all the other asian forum dudes are posting here so I'm just following suit saying this and only this: Asians have something in their culture that makes you feel out of place if you DONT try hard in studies, and makes you feel miserable if you end up with poor grades. That being said, if you don't do well in school yet you don't really care, there's a big chance that you know about the common relationship with Asians and how they generally cope with school studies, so in a way, you are TRYING to not fit into the stereotype, therefore you really do care about school but are evading the subject in its entirety just to be original (I guess).

I found asians to be most intresting. I would most likely want to learn either chinese or japanese. An other languange that I also would like to learn is hewbrew.

If you've ever lived in China, the worse student there could easily get As in a US school. Asian parents push you so hard to get good grades... Seeing as i'm asian, it's basically work ethnic and your parents being on your ass to study.

Aye, but i didnt find the maths section difficult, quite basic.

the stuff i was doing in college when i took my SATs (waste of time and money IMHO) was a lot more challengeing.

The reason why Asians tend to seem smarter is because their family, among other things, obsesses over schoolwork, grades, and test scores, so you can contribute to your family as an adult and so on. As such, a considerable amount of pressure is applied to do well, and if you bomb it's a particularly major deal since usually it indicates lack of effort and such.

As far as I can figure out from my memory and the various stories I've heard from my parents, this probably stems all the way back (for my particular slice of the Asian population, that is the Chinese) to whatever dynasty invented the bureaucracy. Starting from that if you were able to own up the government's tests on Confucian philosophy and so on you could get a government position and this is really good if you are not that well off to start with, so there was probably alot of pressure to go succeed on those tests. Now in present day Taiwan (if I remember correctly) I believe your test scores can actually determine which college you go to (public colleges are generally better than private colleges) and then in places like Japan companies not unoften hire directly out of the top colleges so these things all link together starting with how good your schoolwork is.
