OKay, since the first thread on this went to shite, we're going to try again, and set some ground rules. The old thread was started with very good intentions, but got off track, and turned into a flame fest.

In this thread you can:
1.) post creative works, art. That includes BUT IS IN NO WAY LIMITED TO photos, stories, drawings, CG, music, song lyrics, essays, sculpture (if you can figure out how), cooking recipes and/or instructions on making topiary.
2.)give postive/CONSTRUCTIVE negative criticism on work ("that isn't art" doesn't qualify).
3.) request work from someone, or discuss collaborative efforts.
4.) Discuss the work of a specific artist in CIVIL and APPROPRIATE terms, IF you can related it to an ORIGINAL work here. No tagents about non-tw people please. (example: "Your work really reminds me of artist-x, you both have chosen similar colors to work with")

Things I will BAN you for in this thread, and no bitching about not getting a warning, this is your warning right here, and I KNOW you all read the topic post before replying to a thread!

1.) Flaming someone's work. This is a fucking carebear, special olympics type thread. Everyone gets a medal and some kool aid for participating, and if you piss in the kool aid I'm going to curb stomp your ass.
2.) Claiming you have a monopoly on what exactly is "art". If 10,000 years of civilization has proven anything, it's that you don't know shit about what art is to other people. No really, shut the fuck up before I ban you.
3.) Random inane, unfunny, bullshit. This is illegal anyway (spam rule), but you can't really say it enough can you (when was the last time you read the forum rules?)

To TK about his drawings in the last topic:

You have a nice variety of hair styles. I'm guessing you wouldn't mind some advice so I think you should mainly work on a number of different poses and expressions. Maybe even try drawing a 3/4 of the head. I highly suggest taking a look at a random magazine and sketeching out the people pictured. It helped me out alot in the past, and it will help you nail down some natural poses and realistic expressions. That's the main problem I saw when I looked at your stuff, the girls had the same expressions and there were not alot of different poses.

I also like the hood and the hand. I still am not the greatest with hands and it's great to see that you made it rest naturally on her hip (sometimes my hands look too stiff :fear: ). Just a quick question- do you sketch out a body shape before you draw, or do you just start sketching? I know different artists at my school that do one or the other, and was just wondering about yours since I didn't see any sketchy "residue", aka leftover lines from sketching.

I didn't have much VISIBLE residue you mean. I draw with 2H pencils so they are easily erased and what doesn't get erased is likely to be too faint to scan.

For female bodies, I like to draw a triangle with its points at the two shoulders and the third a couple of head lengths down (incidentally, I call that third point the "G-spot" because when I draw the whole figure, that spot usually winds up around the genitalia). I then build the rib cage around the top half of the triangle above where I want the waist. With the lower point on the "G-spot", I find it easier to draw more naturally flowing hips from the waist downward.

A couple of those pictures I drew actually were based on magazine photos. I haven't tried to vary expressions as much though because I find I have difficulty with lips. I like the full lips like the two on the right, but I find the simpler ones like the bottom left and the one with the hood fit the style I like for the eyes and nose better.

I wasn't too thrilled with the hand though. I have a tendancy towards making the fingers look too stubby. It actually looked a little more natural after I inked it as the pencils looked flat.

Anyway yeah some of my drawing aren't bad considering I draw somewhere around Twerps' level.
