How is animal cruelty funny in any context? Aside from teenagers trying to look cool by being badass and kicking dogs and killing frogs I think most people would agree that animal cruelty is just fucking retarded. I mean what is funny about being cruel to something that, in most cases, means you no harm and has no ill will towards you - just because you are bigger and "smarter" than them. I use quotes for smarter because I'm not sure half the people on this forum are actually smarter than some animals. Even with animals that could do you harm, like snakes and such, there is no reason to be cruel towards them. Either avoid them or, if you have to, kill it to protect yourself. Don't chop it up into little pieces because you like to see the parts wriggle.

That shit was fucking sick. I expected it to be no worse than gutting and skinning a deer. But the fact that they didnt even kill them before pulling their own fur off is just wrong.

I say we find these sick fucks and do the same to them, see how they like it.

Dude, chill. I think Itchy & Scratchy are pretty damn funny, but that's because they are both animals behaving like humans. The context is they are animals acting like people, who take turns killing each other. Since there's a back and forth, it presents a sense of fairness between them, and it's ironic because they're behaving like people, and the characters appear jovial and mischeifous, so it's non-threatening, almost charming. Therefore it's funny.

To put it another way, if you see animal cruelty put in a quirky setting, create a sense of fantasy so the message is non-threatening and unemotional, and where the characters behave in an unexpected, outrageous, or ironic manner (such as Adolf Hitler dancing like a black 80's rap icon), the end result would be humerous.

Out of site, out of mind.

This doesn't just happen to Minks, they do it to cows too. You think they're gonna waste money to give these animals a decent killing? Hell no. But is any of that gonna stop you guys from eating you're McDonalds hamburger? Probably not. At least I'm being realistic in saying that this is a horrible thing, but it's not going to turn me off from eating meat, or cause me to cuss out a woman wearing fur.

it stops me. being a vegitarian is so EZ. any n00b can do it. there is no withdrawal syndrome from quiting meat and after a short while, meat becomes disgusting to you and you lose all desire for it and it becomes repulsive.

Genocidal, I don't go around my neighbourhood kicking dogs, filling ponds with oil/cement. I don't really care about animals, I'm not going to harm them like that because I'm not an idiot like that. I just liked provoking you all by makign my first comment, I just think its funny how people react.

People are unnerved more by seeing animals die than humans, which I find totally stupid.

Can't watch any more of that. I'd like to feel like I have a pretty cast-iron stomach, but skinning shit alive? Man, the first scene of that was fucking heartbreaking.

Then again, this is the livelihood for some family somewhere, I'm sure. Can't judge 'em.
Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

i think that hunting or killing animals for food is fine, or killing them for their fur to make clothes for people. but they in no way should be tortured. death should be painless for them because they provide us with many of the things we need, so the least we can do is end their lives with the least amount of pain.

I lived in Korea for about 6 months. At one of the local open-air markets, they had a bunch of vendors selling goods, such as textiles, crafts, and meat.

As I was walking, a meat vendor had a white cat strung up by it's neck, and it was very much alive. This guy was so skilled that within 15 seconds, he picked up a ball-ping hammer, struck the cat in the head twice with great force and killed it, then picked up his knife and skinned the cat very, very quickly.

As much as that bothered me to watch, the cat was killed almost instantly and didn't have to endure much suffering. It's completely possible for fur traders to adopt the same kinds of ethical standards. The problem is, like I said earlier, most, if not all of the guys in that video are rural and uneducated, with very low standards of living.

But, to put a bullet through the head of every animal starts to add up. Not only that, but the force it takes to bludgeon a pig, or a cow, that would take sooooo long to do. Thus, you have to hire more workers, and thus you lose money. It's a sad system, but it's a system nonetheless.

Did you see what the one guy was doing? He was picking each one up and smashing their heads on the ground to kill them. You think it's less efficient to pick up a hammer and hit the animal on the head instead of picking up the whole thing and spiking it like a football?

No way, dude. A small hammer weighs less than a mink.

I'm speaking more about the larger animals.

I agree, they should have killed the minks in a much less cruel way.

But, this isn't the only video of animals being cruely slaughtered, there's tons of them out there, if you look.

Regardless, there is a way to implement some level of ethical standards regardless the size or shape of the animals.

If it's less efficient, big fucking deal. That's part of the cost of doing business responsibly. For example, the institution of slavery was much more efficient in respect to labor costs. But due to ethical ramifications, the institution of slavery was eventually abolished.
