    they were RACOONS

anyways.. it's pretty sick, and i didn't bother watching the end cuz it was too long, but i just want to comment on the replies talking about better ways of killing. You do realize you're still killing them right?....

People are gonna use them for meat and fur no matter what. You can't comment on the way they are killing the animal because it's CUTE. Think of yourself killing an ant, or roach, or a mosquito. They are animals as well. think of a kid following an ant with a magnifying glass.

I don't think the people in the video are doing the right thing, but i respect the other hunters and butchers who actually do the dirty work for you so you can have meat for dinner. If you're gonna go do all those, then you can do it however way you want.

Yes, they are all methods of killing, but not all methods are the same, even if the end result is the same. If you're going to skin an animal, at least kill it before you do so.

This post has stupid and misinformed written all over from top to bottom.

First, and I don't know if this is just an un-funny and ill-placed joke, but they aren't raccoons. Have you ever heard of someone wearing a raccoon jacket? They are minks.

Second, nobody is saying you shouldn't kill them because they are cute. You're attacking a point nobody has made at all in this thread. Of course we need meat and being a meat-eater doesn't mean I can condone or even sit in apathy while people do this kind of stuff. There is humane killing and then there is the stuff in the video. Skinning a mink alive and having it still be able to move around without any fur or skin on is totally different from stepping on a roach.

Third, just because they're skinning animals to make jackets for people that don't really want to skin animals themselves does not mean they have the right to torture the animals first. You have a pretty fucked up view of reality, kid.

I don't get it-why are people vegetarians, when the meat at the store is already dead anyway? Being vegetarian isn't gonna bring all those animals back to life.

gen, do you read chinese? i'll bet the answer is no, so how do u know they are not racoons? exactly.

also, i did not say this is right now did i? i said i had respect for hunters because they actually do the dirty work for you to have meat, and i stated that the stuff they're doing in the video is wrong.

as for the cuteness part, i interpreted that from arikel's post and the replies to that picture. would the replies have been the same if it was an ugly, dirty pig covered in mud and manure? think about it.

I believe they would, yes. Because the crux of the matter isn't that it was a furry animal, it was that it was still alive.

Agreed with Conc, and you didn't refute any part of my argument that just because people are doing things to animals most people wouldn't want to do themselves doesn't mean they should be able to use any means they feel like. That's like saying that we should be able to skin people on death row alive and then wait for them to bleed to death because it looks cooler than just giving them a lethal injection. Obviously you're not the kind of person who respects animals but the comparison still holds.

Also, you don't have to be able to read Chinese to know that those are probably minks and definitely not raccoons. First of all, you probably have never even seen a raccoon because those look nothing like it. No, I'm not positive that those are minks but mink coats are where the real money lies - not raccoon coats or coon-skin hats. I just use common sense to figure out that those are probably minks.

I just used that picture to cause a bit of shock, my intention was the same as the one that took the PETA volunteers to published that video although we used diferent ways to achieve it... about the fact that it is a cat or a whale or a racoon or a horse, i think they should all be treated with respect and should all have the right to life peacefully. I can debate if eating animals for human consumption when there are other available sorces for nurishment is civilised or not but i can't even get closed to imagine how using an animal to make a luxury goods can't be barbaric and selfish, adding to the fact that the animal is skinned alive... i mean that's really sad :crying:

I agree completly, i was sitting outside on the curb tonight while waiting for the bus home from my girlfriend's house when i started contemplating my life choices when it took nothing more then the thought of a pig being sliced opened to make my stomach turn.

Well I think you're talking about animals being used for meat, as she's saying animals being used for their fur makes her sick. Unless you have some kickin pig skin boots.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

I agree with what she said about fur then i got off topic. Pig skin boots would just be like human skin boots.
