  • NBA Playoffs

I posted this in a couple of other places, but forgot about doing it here. I've got the playoffs mapped out as follows:

    WEST

    QUARTERFINALS
    Phoenix def. Memphis
    San Antonio def. Denver
    Sacramento def. Seattle
    Houston def. Dallas

    SEMIFINALS
Houston def. San Antonio (if Houston can hold their momentum they will beat the Spurs)
    Phoenix def. Sacramento

    CONFERENCE FINALS
Houston def. Phoenix (more of a hope than an actual prediction, but meh)

    EAST

    QUARTERFINALS
    Miami def. New Jersey
    Detroit def. Philadelphia
    Boston def. Indiana
Washington def. Chicago (don't know either team, don't care, the winner is fodder for Miami in the semis)

    SEMIFINALS
    Miami def. Washington
    Detroit def. Boston

    CONFERENCE FINALS
    Detroit def. Miami

    NBA FINALS
Houston def. Detroit in seven games

A lot of you are probably thinking "Did this guy just call a #5 seed to go all the way?" To be honest I'd just like to see Houston recapture its former glory, but as long as the Lakers can't win it all I'm a happy man.

wow, you're a brave man to pick the kings over the sonics. If everyone was healthy, I would agree with you 100%. However, it's hard to tell around these parts whether Peja's groin is ok, if Brad Miller's leg is ok from the fracture, if bobby jackson's wrist is ok since his fracture, if skinner's ankle is fine...

I shit you not, some of the residents here in sacramento really believe there is a curse on the Kings. You may or may not know that the site the arena is built on used to be an Indian burial ground. Spooooky.

Anyhow, I'm still picking San Antonio to win the championship, as long as Tim Duncan is healthy. I think Miami 4 win in the East. The Pistons may give them trouble, but they will pull off a victory in 7.

At this point the 3-6 matchup in the West is basically two teams full of cripples (and not the Rosstones type of cripples either), so neither one is going very far.

As for the San Antonio thing, it all depends on how far Houston can ride this wave of momentum, but I'm afraid you're right. Either way the championship would come back to my state, so hey, no skin off my back.

Aaaaand the Miami-Detroit thing. Shaq's got a lot more talent (I mean REAL talent, not overhyped prima donnas) around him this season, so you might be right on that too. I dunno. Like I said, I'm just glad the yellow-jerseyed *******s aren't a factor this year.

I've been rooting for the Suns all season. I've never had a basketball team that I've really been behind since I grew up in Pittsburgh, but a few years ago I adopted Phoenix as my team since my grandparents live there and my grandfater is into basketball. I'm still not nearly as into basketball as baseball or football but GO SUNS.

Plus have any of you guys read any of the stuff Paul Shirley wrote either in his blog or for Bill Simmons on page 2. That guy is absolutely hilarious. It's amazing he plays basketball.

Yeah, go back to the drawing board and build a five-man team instead of a one-man joke. [EDIT: Sharp, don't edit your shit to make me look like I'm delusional.]

On another note, T-Mac is as clutch as it gets. After tonight I really believe in Houston's ability to go all the way.

                    Either Sonics, Suns, or Rockets.

Sonics have the best bench in the NBA, and everyone on that team can shoot the shit out of the ball. If Seattle plays their game, they're gonna be tough to beat. Also, Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen know how to score.

The Suns flat out outrun and score people. Stoudamire is a fucking stud, and the same thing with the Sonics, if they play their game, they're untouchable.

As for the rockets, two words Yao, and McGrady. This combo is nasty. By far the best one two punch in the NBA. If T-Mac puts up his usual 30, and the rest of the Suns can produce, they have a great shot.

Yea, Houston & Suns...very hot teams. Good points.

Actually, I'm pretty excited about the playoffs this year more than in the last few years. I mean, it was awesome that there is so much new life in some teams that have been struggling in recent years.

Are you a huge Rockets fan also? I really would love to see Houston win another title again. When I was living in Houston back then, it brought the whole city close when the Rockets went on their two title runs. Those were the special Clutch City days.

This current Rockets team has a chance of making noise, simply because I think McGrady has decided to play defense and take the role as the leader. We know McGrady is a great player, but he needs to learn how to be a great 'winner' for Houston to recapture it's glory days. I sure hope your predictions are right, but this team is giving up way too many defensive rebounds. Eventually thats going to catch them.
