I just wanted to come out against murdering innocent civilians, being that I am one, and all... I also sometimes wear a jacket, which might make me a target.

Why is it that our LEADERSHIP never pays the price for anything. It's always us, the average joe, the common man. Who do you think is "the army" btw? Young kids, most of them probably our age. Thats whos dying in Iraq**, and now it's whos dying on our own streets.

The guy shouldn't have ran, it's pretty much that simple. It sucks, and I feel bad for people that cared about him, but "Stop! Police!" means... Stop Running.

Edit: The thread headline use of "innocent civilian" is pretty much misleading seeing as how he was in fact attempting to evade authorities that were investigating mass murder and attempted mass murder.

I thought the dude was shot by an undercover unit...so how would the guy really know the unit was cops and not gangsters? I would probably run too if a bunch of aggro guys with guns were running at me.

"Evading capture" assumes the suspect was aware that he was fleeing from authorities and not criminals claiming to be authorities. Was it clear to everyone around that these guys were cops?

Bzzt. Incorrect. It is not the job of the authorities to make sure you understand that they are police. It is their job to -identify- themselves as police officers. Secondly, this is britain and specifically london, where not very many people are going to be carrying guns out in public, let alone any kind of military automatic weapon. If you see a person with a gun running down the street there, saying "POLICE! STOP!" it would be an almost sure bet that they are indeed police. When they identify themselves, it is YOUR job to stop and comply. Now, if the man wondered if they were police, stopped, kept his hands in the air and said "How do I know you're police? Can I see a badge?", he would not be dead right now.

You can challenge a police officer for proper identification, yes.
You cannot evade arrest just because you "don't believe they are cops".

guns arnt really known in the uk, the entire idea behind them is completely different to other countrys with a more relaxed gun culture.
