Final Fantasy 7 Remake for PS3 closer than ever?

Materia was my favourite system. I thought the Job system was alright, my least favourite being the stock system from FF8 for gathering magic.

It was a good thought, but the materias got overpowered in the end. Mega materias with all the materias in one? Just silly.
A little rabbit hits me, BOM knights of round x2. Or the slash materia, slash all the enemies, and you have a chance of cutting them in 2.

9 was the best, followed by 8, then 7, then the rest, then the crappy shit 10 in the end.

6 - excellent plot, overall good game
11 - so much to do, no1 to party with
5 - barerly remember it to be honest
9 - graphics were nice, plot was....mediocre, batle ok

The rest - miles better than this last one

FF X-2 and FF: CC and FF: Advanced all blew more than Stylez's mom.

And because those are all the FF games I played, (apart from a rom of FF5, or FF3 or... I don't even care, it sucked too.) their reputation of "Greatest Game Series Ever" is total BS to me.

9 had the most engaging characters, none of that "I'm too cool to have a personality" crap like the leads in 7 or 8.

It's not really one of the more standard FF games but I would just like to throw out that Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the best of the series. My reasoning is that you can make your characters into whatever you want and I'm a big fan of the job system. Sure the graphics aren't super advanced but the plot is actually decent which makes up for it, at least in my opinion.

Those who say games like FFX-2 suck need to get a reality check. In this time era, previous games in the past that were totally turnbased arent as popular as today. Even if a certain game is turn based today, theres always something else to spice up the gameplay and differ it from other games. For example, FFX-2's job system, FFX's circular stat/ability thing. FFX-2 was a great game, even though it did have some major girly parts to it. The job system was cool cause you could unlock multiple jobs and master each one. Theres only going to be newer things in the future, and i doubt a good amount of total turnbased RPGs will be made, sadly. As for a FF7 remake, i think they'll do it but that it'll be the last remake they'll do.

As for FFX review..

The battle system was awesome
The circular stat/ability thing was a cool new thing, enabled people to widen their skills.
The plot was great, even though the game was slightly short.

FF8 is a very underrated game, for the simple fact that it was more a love story than anything. What do you expect disliked? FF8 was on the same console as FF7 and yet you didnt complain about the graphics?

Now, one thing to debate about was the Limit Break/Overdrive changing over from games. In FF7 it was Limit Break where you would use an ability for massive dmg, in FF8 it continued, and in FF9 they totally screwed it over. In FFX they had it called 'Overdrive', where it was still cool, but the damage revolved around your stats more than anything.

FFX-2 had an awesome battle system. I just don't think it was implemented in a balanced fashion. If they put more balance to the classes it woulda been better.

I beat it with 2 white mages and a warrior throughout the game.

Broly, regarding FF7 and FF8 graphics. I should have been more specific in my mini review, while they were both on the PSone with poor graphics, FF7 knew this and so the characters were simple little things. However, in FF8 they ried to make them detailed, which failed, because they looked so ugly moving about the screen.

Definately realism wasn't a strong suit for the original Playstation, and they should have had left it to more cartoony look that would be nicer than the crappy pixelated models they had.

But the cutscenes have always been beautiful.

After reading this thread i decided to fire up old Playstation 2, and luckily found disk 3 of FF7. Hadnt played it in about 3 years, but after 10 minutes playing got right back into it. On my 50 hour file, i must of completed 99%.
I only wish there had of been a level after Ruby weapon, as my 99 level Cloud is unstoppable :grin:

Back to FF, the reason I like FF9 the best was because of the feeling. It really felt like a fantasy world. And I have to say that this is the hardest one in the FF series (except for the monsters at the monster hunter in FFX, nightmare). And its the funniest one too, like when Eiko tries to hit on Zidane all the time.
The only thing I dont like about FF8 is the long animation thing each time you summon a GF, like Eden, takes forever. But its a great game still.
