I did like Vivi from FFIX, and I did like summoning Alexander ... much better than watching the movie. Aside from the 4 man battles, I didn't like that much else...

Now that I think about it, I'd say final fantasy 9 did have the best "fantasy world." It was awesome to go back to a world like that after the high tech ones of 7 and 8. X was an awesome game too, that monster ranch or whatever it was where you could fight all the really hard monsters was definitely the most fun/rewarding/entertaining minigame I've played in a final fantasy.

did you know you could get some 30+ lvs from one fight in there? just tried it out, was quite nifty

theres also a secret dungeon where theres a SLIGHT chance of obtaining 99 warp spheres in the final chest

I think Final Fantasy Tactics is the best of the PlayStation Fantasy's. Ramza is a FAR better hero than Cloud, because Cloud is far too cliche. About the same amount of customativity(real word?) in Tactics as in VII, except y'know, you can't have someone with the ability to summan KotR 50 million times over, which incidently, those uber supers and Limits kinda cheapened the game for me, because once you had them, there wasn't much strategy anymore, if much to begin with. Also, another thing I disliked in VII was inactive pary members automatically level with you, which I thought was sort of a crappy short cut. Yeah leveling almost EVERYONE up in Tactics(and Disgaea, which is better than Tactics) was a chore, but after your hard work of getting that Ninja or Lancer up along with the rest of your party felt much more satisfying and gratifying when you beat the crap out of enemies with them instead of selecting Yuffie or Cait Sith, pouring equipment and materia on them and them being fully ready to go.

But then, what do I know, haven't played RPGs/video games in a while...

FF7 is widely loved by a bunch of kids because of it's overall epic feel, simple and yet fun battle system, and the emo anime idol Sephiroth.

EDIT: Tifa's titties and Cloud's huge disproportionate sowrd are also factors.

FFT's storyline was leagues ahead of FF7, IMO. Ontop of that, it wasn't like too many RPG's, since most stayed away from the subject of religion back then. Closest thing you could tie it to was Tactics Ogre.

I agree with LB... you gotta be joking.

A storyline about a hero(Ramza) who saves the world, is turned on by his best friend, disowned by the church AND no record of him is ever kept, so no one knows that it was HIM that saved the world.

Cliche "woe-is-me" relunctant hero story, where frequent plot twists of "I'M THE REAL ONE, NO I'M THE REAL ONE!" make it almost predictable.
