Final proof that "embedded" reporters, as I've posited before, are Evil Communist Minions of Satan. Here's a Washingon Post "embedded" reporter's account of her time in Iraq: But as I walked into a U.S. military hospital in central Iraq, I saw a truly shocking scene: an Iraqi family, wounded.
Hassan, 30, a taxi driver, was spattered with shrapnel and had a broken arm. His younger sister, in a pink robe, was worrying over her bedridden, bandaged 7-year-old son. Their 12-year-old brother's arm was in a cast. Hassan said a U.S. tank had fired on their car near Baghdad, killing his mother and injuring the others.
The war had been going on for 21/2 weeks. But these were the first Iraqis I had met. It was a measure of how much I had lived in the military bubble that I was startled at their wounds.
We don't shoot civilians, the pilots had told me over and over. They believed it. On some level, so did I.
All the soldiers carried pocket-sized cards with the rules of engagement. Pilots returning from missions emphasized how they'd labored to observe them. They would take fire from buildings, feel their bodies stiffen with fear and anger, and not shoot back, since they couldn't pinpoint the origin of the attack.
We don't shoot civilians.
And the pilots saw themselves as professionals. They flew the most advanced attack helicopters in the world, with radar- and laser-guided weapons systems, and took pride in their training and knowledge. They weren't baby killers.

Until you met people like Hassan.
"I know they don't mean to kill civilians," he said, his eyes welling with tears. "But I lost my mother. What I do?" Notice how this "embedded" reporter never mentions the disgusting tactics used by Saddam's thugs, who used civilians as human shields and civilian vehicles in suicide bombings.
In a WAR ZONE with civilian vehicles being used to carry out suicide bombings, why was a Baghdad taxi driver driving towards US tanks? Couldn't he read the millions of leaflets coalition forces had dropped warning civilians to stay out of the soldiers' way? Or hear coalition radio broadcasts telling civilians not to approach US soldiers?
Don't this taxi driver or the "embedded" reporter know that Saddam Hussein violated every rule of war, indeed every rule of human decency, in camouflaging his troops as civilians?
But, of course, it's never Saddam's fault! It's always the fault of the cruel, jingoistic, stupid, BABY KILLING American soldiers. Never mind that they liberated a country from a tyrant who killed millions in the name of "socialism." They should have left that taxi alone, even if Saddam's evil minions could have used it to murder dozens of Americans in violation of all the rules of war.

Watching Greg Kelly reporting from Saddam's palace on April 6, when the 3ID first took it over, almost made "embedding" worthwhile
