I'm guessing since the majority of the population in New Orleans is black, and how a shitload of the air support sent was distributed towards the people that refused to leave their homes, rather than the tons of people that were in the superdome (guessing at least 85% black). By air support I mean bringing in water, blankets and other shit. Most importantly was water, especially for the patients in the superdome that had been evacuated from hospitals.

No clean water to change dressings or clean wounds with for 5 days leads to infections, and the cramped hot surroundings must have been a goldmine for spreading disease. The National guard just got there with the food and supplies to the superdome today, and it's been 5 days since the hurricane hit. On top of that, lack of national guard has hurt both Louisana and Mississippi in regards to disturibution of the few supplies they have, and most importantly popultion safety.

a better point is why didn't the city of New Orleans have an evacuation plan for the city? Why weren't all modes of transport used to get everyone out? 90% of this could all have been avoided if the city had an evacuation plan.


My hometown in Texas has a plan. In the threat of a major hurricane back in 95ish (I think), evaucation routes were used. School buses took the poorer out to safe shelters, if they elected to go. The only way you were left behind was by choice. Granted it was a humongous traffic jam. People got out in time. New Orleans failed it's own people.

Because most blacks have strong religious convictions, most of the lower class doesn't vote, and many of the ones who do hate gay people. That's why the Republicans made such a big deal about gay marriage.

Don't forget all the tricks that were played about reducing the amount of voting machines in minority and democratic neighborhoods in OH and FL, and the intimidation tactics. W/e. It doesn't make a difference now anyway.

As far as the comments go, I think the more accurate comment would be that Bush doesn't give a fuck about poor people. I don't think race is as much an issue than social class. They are poor people who happen to be black.
