hope you can clear that up for me.
Well, let me answer this question for you outside of bible verses or with a christian aptitude. And with that said, I am guilty of fornication, and the main reason I personally found out why it's bad is this:

say you had sex with someone you didn't really love, could be a girl you met at the club, someone looking for sex at your party and decided she wanted you, whatever. So it was great while it lasted.

Eventually, you find someone that you really care about. Someone that you really think you might want to love for the rest of your life and you get these images of running through flowery fields and holding hands into the sunset and shit... then you have sex with her too...

and you compare the woman you love to the woman you had meaningless sex with.

And then the woman you love isn't the only one that's in your heart when you make love to her. And what happens if she isn't as good? Would you still want to eventually marry her or do you go back to promiscuity?

The answer isn't easy... because for the longest time I believed that premarital sex was OK because if I'm really to get serious with any girl, we have to have good sex.

Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
      1 Corinthians 7:2 - NKJV

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God
      1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 - NKJV

Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clealy affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.
      1 Corinthians 6:18 - New Living Translation
none of those is a good reason, it's bible babble.

but you can regret having a partner even before you MARRY your current partner. so i still dont really see what the ACT OF MARRIAGE has to do with anything! you either love someone and them alone, or you dont.

        • I need to tell someone about this so I'm just going to post here.

I have just come home from the most surreal church session. It was all pretty standard up until the speaker finished and asked those who wanted to be prayed for to come to the front. Around 20 people must have stood in a line at the front, the speaker laid his hands upon each individual and prayed for them individually in turn, around 5 or so in people started to pass out. I mean the full blown falling backwards and losing conciousness sort of passing out. One person burst out in tears with a loud cry aswell. It was almost scary. By the time he had finished there were roughly a dozen people lying at the front of the room, waking and getting up at different times. It was amazing. Afterwards the speaker asked if anyone present who was ill to come forward if they'd like to be prayed for to heal. A few people approached the front and again each of them passed out when they were touched and prayed for, I don't know if any of them were cured although this woman did speak of her breathing problem cured or something (couldn't hear her well enough). It was fantastic. I regret not going up there myself, maybe next time.

Sorry to say it but that sounds like some scam... the ones they used to do for television of one of those obscure religions wich believe they have healing powers and that they saw the light or were touched by angels and sent by god to do His work. Here in Portugal we have a very famous "religion" were people with all kinds of desiases go to meetings were people pass out and cry a lot and say they saw the light... you know the usual stuff... they pay a 10th of their salary all months to belong to that "religion" and the more they pay the better they will be as god will acknowledge their offers. Suffice to say i know that normal churchs don't do that unusual stuff but what you reported was amazingly similar

Right, but I was just pointing out something screwed up that COULD happen with fornication... and I was speaking out of experience.

I'm relating the "act of marriage" as the ultimate goal in a relationship, though it may not be the fact for a lot of people who are either younger or are just looking to have a little fun.

I'm saying that if theres something that cheapens the ultimate goal... then maybe it isn't such a good idea...

lol, I can see how you'd be sceptical. However, a few of the people who collapsed are close freinds of mine and I trust them, I doubt they'd pull some sort of grand scale scam. Most of the church was up there too (small church) so everyone would have to be in on it. Furthermore, they don't rely on donations like some churches, the 6 elders of the church all have full time jobs and pay for everything (maintance etc) with their own salaries. I've never once been approached for money. Don't let a few corrupt people taint your view on something.

                    • I pay a tenth of what I earn to the church, it's called a tithe. It's in the bible somewhere. It's not required, but it's just the traditional thing to do.

Marriage is a religious institution designed by God for 1 man and 1 woman. Part of this commitment to 1 person is sharing the most physically intimate act with only that person.

It's *NOT* about "the one you love" or "someone you love". It's about your commitment/love for 1 person.

That's the rules that God made concerning marriage and if you believe him, then following the spirit of the law as well as the letter of the law should be helpful (since he designed it). If you don't believe him then don't get married in a church.

And why can't this "1 PERSON" be a member of the same sex?
