I spent all of my teenage years in the 90s so I guess it was my decade...

Things I remember:
-The decade starting off with stuff like MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice
-Green Day, Pearl Jam and Nirvana rising up out of nowhere and starting the whole alternative music thing
-Bands like Smashing Pumpkins which showed just how jaded the decade really was
-The day after the Spice Girls launched their first video and everyone at school talking about 'the redhead with the huge breasts'
-The day that Britney Spears first promoed and was suddenly absolutely everywhere and the subject of everything
-The time when everyone thought J.Lo was awesome
-When Diddy was still Puff Daddy
-Everyone liking rap/R&B after alternative got old
-Columbia House and paying for CDs
-Popular songs that actually lasted over 10 weeks at the top, and everyone thinking they were really cool because they could sing 'I will always love you' by Whitney Houston and Boyz II Men songs
-Hearing the 'party like it's 1999' song by Prince endlessly in 1999

-Jennifer Love Hewitt and teen movies
-The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
-Seinfeld, and how after every new episode something somewhere would happen where people would imitate what they saw and sometimes get in trouble for it

-Everyone wearing plaid
-Watching Operation Desert Storm on CNN, Scuds hitting Tel Aviv and so on
-1995 Quebec Referendum
-Everyone finding out about the internet and the endless hours we spent instant messaging in 1997 back when it was still novel
-The introduction of the Saturn and everyone wanting to ram shopping carts into the car doors to see if they really did pop out
-Everyone started out not having a computer and ended up having a computer and with internet access proving that Bill Gates really wasn't crazy after all

But what did it really mean? The 90s was when I grew up and I'm just glad that it was a hell of a lot cooler than the 80s, although it seems like many of my generation really loves 80s music these days...

Thinking of the 90's, right now the only thing that comes to mind is Captain Planet and jumping rope and staying home from school and watching Scooby Doo and eating cereal

I just woke up so I'll think of more things in an hour or something

-sports: canadians in 93, jordan/bulls era, taking off of golf as youth sport (tiger), lillihammer 94 and world cup 98 france

-movies: re-release star wars, matrix re-defines action cinema, 1994 giving Shawshank Redemption/Pulp Fiction/Forrest Gump, pacino/de niro on screen in Heat

-games: genesis (first system - sonic 2, street fighter 2 and nba jam omfg), chronotrigger on SNES, n64 era (zelda, mario, goldeneye), playstation era (ff7 + other rpg's redefined), wolfenstein and duke nukem 3d on PC, simcity 2000, STARCRAFT.
